Two What Ifs?

It's not fun to speculate on this, that is my opinion, also it's counter productive.

Another thought. :) Why did you post what you did? I always find it interesting and humorous when people hate threads and then post in them. :) Why not just ignore it?

Fun to speculate on that!

Don't think Don would have stayed on that long. He was a very beat up guy and Cleveland destroyed him later on. Staubach would have eventually beaten Morton out. Morton was a loser.

Morton was not a loser. He just wasn't the guy that could get you over the top. Losers are guys like Steve Peuller, Quincy Carter and whole bunch of others that you don't want as your QB. Morton could win you a lot of games and get you close.

Morton threw one of the prettiest deep balls I had ever seen. I fact, I actually liked him over Roger in the beginning. But I agree with the earlier OP that Roger would have won that Super Bowl.

When If and Buts are candy and nuts, speculate on that.

I think a candy company should name a candy Ifs and a their nut division should name their product Buts and play off that old rhyme and tell everyone Merry Christmas all year round.

Nah, how bout we speculate on something else.... uh, lets say, "What is RG3 Hiding?"

Oh, wait, that was the last thread YOU started. :)

Hello Pot.

But I'm sure that was a PRODUCTIVE thread :)

I don't believe in hypothetical situations. That's like lying to your brain.

We all engage in hypothetical thinking constantly.... every time we weigh one decision vs. a competing decision. :) Only in this case it is looking backward.

Anyway SP, its just for fun. If its not fun to you, don't think about it. :)

What if Jimmy stayed in Miami and was never hired and Ernie Stautner took over after Landry?

We all know Jerry built those great teams of the early 90's! We probably win four in a row without the disruption. ;) ;)

Had Jimmy stayed with the Hurricanes or got hired by some other NFL team, I couldn't see Stautner taking over for Landry. Stautner was only one year younger than Landry. Once Landry was gone, Dallas would have gone with someone younger. If Tex and Tom were calling the shots, I think they may have pursued Dan Reeves even if it meant giving the Broncos some sort of compensation. If Jerry was making the call I have no idea who he would have brought in if Jimmy wasn't available.

Barry Switzer? That's who he called after Jimmy left.

Barf.

Oh, I know he probably wouldn't have been considered. Just throwing it out there in the make believe land of what-if's :)

At least Barry Switzer at that time(Spring of 1989) would have still been heavily involved in football having just completed his final season at Oklahoma in 1988. When he was hired to replace Jimmy in 1994 Barry had been out of coaching for 5 years. I wouldn't like a lot of good, quality coaches who had been out of football for that length of time.
