TY Simpson

The Jets unbelievably appear to be prepared to use 16 on a player they probably don’t want on the field in 26 . They hope Geno Smith can cover the year and Simpson learns but this does nothing to make the Jets better now with no guarantee Simpson isn’t Zach Wilson .

It helps Dallas though . One more player taken in front of 20 the Cowboys had zero interest in . A Simpson pick is an example of a franchise stuck in dumb. You need help NOW .
A fan talking about drafting for NOW is the real lack of intelligence.

At 16 with the Jets he won’t last until 20.

If Cleveland could give Dallas back it’s 2 it lost to Jets in the Williams trade and we get a second # 1 as well that’s a trade I would make. Dallas gives up 12 round one to get 24 round one and 39 round 2 . So Dallas would have three of the top picks by # 39 , 20, 24 39 and Cleveland gets the QB
That's possible. I just don't know if Cleveland o Pittsburgh will be willing if they don't think Simpson is worth giving up an extra pick. I mean, I'd love it, but that's a lot to give up for a bit of a risk.

Maybe the Jets will make them jump. I'm just not sure anyone will for Simpson. Again, our best hope is the dearth at quarterback in this draft. All it takes is one team to be desperate enough.

My hope is that the dearth at QB causes some team to want to trade up in front of the Jets to grab Simpson. I'm looking at you, Pittsburgh.
This is my thought as well. The Steelers would be a great trade partner to get to #12.
Dallas could end up with picks 20 and 21, and a 2nd round pick, possibly a day 3 pick, like a 4th or a 5th as well.. Possibly a 2027 1st round pick. Because that is atypical trade up price for a QB.
I would take that trade in heartbeat.

Dallas could end up with 4 very good players on defense, or 3 at least, and maybe take Max Klare at TE in the 3rd.

QB needy teams. That pick after us.
16. Jets
21. Steelers
25. Browns

In the 2nd round
3. Cardinals. But what could they offer to get to 11 or 12. I don't see them trading down slightly to get to 12 and what would they get from trading away #3 overall. I think the use that pick.

So the Jets, Steelers, Browns all possible trade candidates.
But would any of the teams give up a 2027 1st round pick in the trade.

Not sure on the Cardinals. It would be a lot easier for them to justify taking a shot at Simpson at 12 if they also got 20 to address a need. To me, there's no way we could get 3 without both 12 and 20 at least.

Now, I'm not a fan of Dallas trading 12 and 20 for 3, I'm just saying why I think the Cards could see value in that.

Or.....he could be the next Brock Purdy

On a redraft....what round wouldPurdy go in

How do we know he’s not the answer though?
This is a really poor year for QB's, so I fully get that he is being overly elevated. In a sane world, he would be a 2nd or 3rd rounder that you take a chance & feel halfway decent he can at worst be a quality backup with potential to start. I saw him make some plays where I thought "hey, that translates to the NFL". So, I certainly wouldn't rule out that he might be better than folks are expecting.

I saw him make both NFL type plays and plays that would shame a JR high QB. He is not a first rd player at this time

Yeah I just hate the whole “not a good draft year” because I’ve heard it before. It’s funny a year ago they hyped up this class with guys like Nussmeir, Haynes King, Beck…..I don’t even remember Mendozzas name among that group…a year later Mendoza is the first pick and it’s a weak draft. One of these guys is gonna be good and make everyone look stupid lol.

I agree ... but I am curious how much the other issues at Alabama contributed to the bad plays.

Nussmeir - He's sorta like Simpson to me. I saw some really good things from him and then it seemed like the issues at LSU seeped into his game.

A friend & I were discussing that we didn't recall hearing much of Mendoza last year.

Yeah which is crazy because he’s the guy and everyone else took a step back.

From a NY Post article....fyi
Traders at Kalshi, one of the world’s leading prediction markets, beg to differ and have identified the Rams as Simpson’s likely landing spot.

It’s still a relatively immature market with $33,327 traded at the time of writing, but Los Angeles is the runaway favorite at 59 percent, putting it well ahead of the Cardinals (30 percent), Panthers (22 percent), Texans (22 percent), Bengals (21 percent), and Jets (19 percent).
****
Rams at 13,or do they trade down?...before taking him, risky
Or do teams jump them in a trade with Dallas at 12
.....if we havnt traded up before
