Tyler Bookers future (for O-line experts)

Booker reminds me of an old Cowboy, Leonard Davis. He started off as a tackle but became a pro bowl guard with us.
I think Davis is a good comparison. Davis wasn't the best on the move but he could absolutely maul you. I think Booker is going to be a physical beast that defenses are going to try to beat with quickness. There should be times with the front of Tyler Smith, Cooper Beebe and Tyler Booker that we see them just crush a front. There may also be times when defenses stunt a fast defender inside or blitz a linebacker and our guys aren't able to recover and get leverage.

This interior may resemble those teams we had with Gurode, Davis and Kosier. Kosier was the only one with real good movement skills on the move, but he wasn't near the power player as the other two.

They drafted Booker to deal with the defensive tackles in the NFC. Especially the Eagles and Giants front 4.

That's what I'm talking about power and drive Jalen Carter put on his back Jordan Davis looking like he's on ice skates going backwards.
Okay so I'm getting a little carried away but I'm hopeful he can hold his own with these guys.

We have some powerful defensive tackles in our division we should be able to see where he's at pretty quickly
He's played against Carter before.

I think Booker has a better floor than the bust guards mentioned (but it IS important to remember that at that time, those guards were also considered "safe, can't miss prospects"

So whole Booker has a better floor, he also has a lower ceiling, because he's not a good athlete (as far as NFL oLinemen go)

Size, power, football IQ, high end productivity at the highest CFB level, leadership intangibles, love for the game, mindset to dominate, happy to be here, and eager to learn. Didn't love the pick at the time, but have a feeling it will be hard to not love the player. I don't know what happened with the guys that were referenced, but I get the feeling Booker plans on doing everything it takes to be successful in the NFL. Need to see it happen on the field before he's annointed, but he is off to a good start.
This. He wasn't on my radar, but I'm cool with that. I like the pick.

Booker doesn't have the athleticism to even be a college tackle.
Funny you said this. Today I was looking at some old pics of Tyron Smith in his last year with USC.

Booker doesn't look anything like Tyron did when he was drafted at 20 years of age.

If someone was to say "prototypical left tackle" I would show them a picture of Tyron Smith.

seeing a few clips of him, he looks like a very smart player dealing with stunts and always recognizing something useful to do very quickly. smart players usually aren't busts, the pure traits players that lack instincts and don't really know how to play are the bigger bust risks.

booker is a lot shorter and was never thought to be anything but a guard in the NFL
and he has a nasty mentality Bigg never had
Tyler Booker is 6'-5" tall, which is actually considered tall for an OG. There's another Booker on the team that's "a lot shorter." I think you mistakenly got them mixed up.

Why does everyone assume that Booker will slide in at RG?

I can see a very plausible scenario where Tyler S slides out to LT if no other player is impressing. Booker at LG (where he played primarily in college). Beebe, Hoff (where he prefers, I believe) & Steele.

Based on the track record of the Cowboys FO, barring injury, Guyton will get every opportunity to be the starting LT of the Dallas Cowboys. They spent a 1st round pick (albeit a late 1st) on him and they rarely give up on a 1st rounder early. Look no further than Mazi Smith at DT.

Guyton is the starter at LT barring injury and Booker is the starter at RG.

Certainly can't argue based on track record. But it seems someone has gotten them to focus on being a power running team. Maybe, just maybe, they don't just hand out starting reps based on investment.

Should have drafted a tackle. Tackles can always play guard. Guards don't normally become tackles

Tyron Smith is the unicorn of tackles and he played the right side at USC.
