Tyler Guyton is the key to the entire season

The Cowboys had a good offseason. Strong draft and now Pickens. The biggest X factor for the Cowboys is Guyton. He had a subpar rookie year and his level of play is unacceptable for a starting LT. He needs to make a major leap forward for the Cowboys to truly have a chance this year. Hopefully Klayton Adams + the Cowboys strength and conditioning staff can help Guyton elevate his performance.
Agree huge X factory this season, might not be atop of the list, but sure close to it!

Guyton isn’t as important as you think. Mazi contributing is more important. Asim Richards or moving Tyler Smith to LT would work fine. But the depth at DT is questionable at best.
Exactly. It would be HUGE if he stepped up & locked down the LT spot but they can cover the position if he doesn't.

People fuss about lesser players "position flex" but Tyler S gives them tremendous latitude. Talented players are a luxury. Besides, he too was drafted to be a T.

Not really. I think he will be fine this year. He never played LT before and to make that jump at the NFL level was asking a lot. But they can easily scheme around him for pass blocking so he shouldn't be much of an issue. The problem last year was that both tackle spots struggled and it is hard to provide help to both at the same time. But helping on one side or the other is not an issue.

Good points. I think Guyton has a much higher ceiling, but Richards has a decent floor. I really like what I have seen of him. Also, as you said, we know T Smith can always move outside and be a top 10 LT from the start.

There is some truth in this, but it's not just Guyton. If only Guyton struggles, they could still have a good offense. We need Steele to play better. As long as Guyton can keep the penalties under control, they can slide by with subpar play from just him.

Have to be willing to kick Tyler Smith out to tackle if needed, but I'm expecting a jump from Guyton for sure.

I agree to a large extent that Guyton and Mazi's growth are important to seeing team improvement. However, I think the biggest question remains can Dak rebound? Guyton can obviously help with getting him better protection, and Mazi can help with getting the defense off the field but a lot is on Dak's shoulders.
I don't think Mazi will even be in the league next year

I hope they play the best 5 lineman. If that is Tyler Smith playing LT then Tyler Smith needs to play LT. I wish we can get Steele on the bench also. Life is hard when both of your tackles are terrible. lol

I am hoping Tyler Guyton makes a huge leap forward. I would love for that first round pick to start paying dividend.

I don't think the entire season hinges on Guyton. I think you can move him and still be really good on the line with Tyler Smith at LT.
