Tyler smith, extend him now

Yes, lets sign him when he has leverage to ask for tackle money. Brilliant plan.

The price, as a guard, is probably close to $25m based on what next year's cap would be.

Have to see more leaves fall….as defined by allowing the price to go higher.

Given their plan, they should be signing everyone to a discounted deal after year three. They aren’t good at that either and all of their own that they retain gets record money or close.

Even Gallup or Steele coming off injury. Were they really discounted deals? No.

They just don’t seem to want to even bother acknowledging that players drafted by other teams may just be better than the ones they drafted…..because the people who run the team are older and off doing 300 other things because they are control freaks.

In Dallas guards get LT money. That is why they chose guard instead. If he thought he was gonna throw away 10 million per year he never would have let go of the position.

Depends on where you're going to play him at, i'm his agent i'm seeing where he's being played at, LT oh yeah BIG BIG MONEY

Meh you pull a Martin and cry until you get to play guard you lose some cred in my books. Bro should have locked down LT for 10 years. Instead he hides inside like a coward.
Quite a few of us thought he should have been LT from day one--I was one of them. Others thought that LG was his natural position, and he seems for now, to be a better LG than LT. But one could argue that he should have been given another year at LT to see if he could have become the next Tyron. The coaches thought differently, and I'm sure they will give Guyton every possible chance to succeed at LT.

Tyler Smith should be the left tackle going forward, Guyton is still too raw needing more tme to develop and should be moved over to right tackle, his natural position to compete with Steele for the position...Steele has been a dissapointment since signing his deal...

Pretty sure the coaches wanted him at LT but he preferred guard.

I'd like to know how true that is. I would have done anything the coaches wanted to play on a NFL team. He threw away a lot of potential $$$ if that's true.

What are you talking about? When did he do this?

As previously mentioned is he really throwing away money? At one time we needed and wanted Martin to move to LT. He told the team to go pound sand. We proceeded to make him one of the highest paid O lineman anyway. Highest paid guard in history. As I recall we pretty much needed the same from Smith and he basically pulled the same move.

You make Tyler smith your left tackle and pay him the money now. Lock him up for the next decade. They have the money under cap right now. If he says no., I prefer lg than you say fine let him play it out and trade him in the last year of his rookie contract. Why is it so hard for Jerry to demand these guys do their job

Is this some twightzone? He's in the 2nd year of a 4 year with a 5th year option

How do you think you absorb dak, micha, ceedee...uh duh with rookie contracts.

Extend him after year 3 maybe but jeebus yall are silly

Better enjoy him while we got him. He will demand top money. Likely hold out in 2025. Maybe need to look at extending him now. Jerry needs to get ahead on this one
Can't hold out in 2025 maybe 2026

This is not true .....at all
Tyler has ALWAYS said he will play wherever the team needs. Not where you are getting refused to play LT.

If it were up to Smith, he would remain at guard, paving the way for the Cowboys to select an offensive tackle. However, he is open to becoming quarterback Dak Prescott's blindside protector as well.

"I'm coming off a really good year at guard," Smith said Thursday on "The 8th Round Podcast," hosted by fellow Cowboys offensive lineman Brock Hoffman. "I'm feeling really comfortable at guard. I kind of like how the continuity is right now. ... I'm willing to do whatever it takes, y'all, and I'm able to do whatever it takes. So we'll see what the future holds. Obviously, stay ready for anything but for right now, I'm the starting left guard of the Dallas Cowboys."

Stephen Jones is quoted saying Tyler can be an ALL-Pro LT or LG. Even mention him in the same sentence as Larry Allen. Translate: Tyler will get top money as a Cowboy. No way in hell, he comes close to seeing free agency
