There are people in this thread saying he should play through it.

There are people saying he should have had the surgery months ago.

There are people happy he’s having the surgery now rather than waiting.

Everyone’s an expert and no one is ever happy.

Yo, this isn't an injury that even happened during meaningful games. It didn't just happen; it's been an issue for some time, and the team just decided......Also, where are people looking for a pity party or expressing sadness? Your post makes next to no sense

The OL is going to be the Achilles heal of this team...Boys are razor thin at Oline and cant afford anymore injuries on the OL

There is this thing called a "history" of injuries with our OL over the years, and manyyyyyy on here expressed frustration that all the attention has been placed on our D, neglecting our O. I am certainly no Doc, but have played one on TV in the past. From the little I know about injuries, one cannot just play through things like hammies, groins, quads, etc but with some rest things can improve; But when a ligament is involved? I am fairly certain the only way a ligament can heal is to, well....not use the part of the body affected. For an OL, it's kind of a hand-to-hand combat type of position, soooooooo.

What a dumb team and terrible training staff. How was this not looked into right away and handled. Now he misses actual football games. It's mismanagement by the team. And idk wth is going on with the cowboys media and fans being like its ok we have TJ bass. WTH are yall talking about tyler smith is a top 2 guard in the nfl. TJ bass is a backup. This could possibly cost us games and ppl act like its no big deal. Its like im taking crazy pills listening to cowboys media and fans.

4. He should have never allowed himself to get injured and if he's not to blame its the training staffs fault

I've been saying since cutdown day this team was screwed. Literally having one interior player to cover 3 positions was dumb.....and knowing you already had 2 interior players hurt....looks even dumber now.

But hell no....We had to keep 6 safeties instead....6 WRs....6 edges. This roster construction is a complete mess this year.

Short on CBs...Actually only have 3 guys that you can trust.
Short @ RB, QB

Not sure who is in charge of the actual 53 anymore....but this is an inexcusably mess

Thank you.....Finally someone that gets it. In a year...that we are all in.....You don't have room for these kind of "mistakes"... It's just showing this coaching staff isn't nearly ready for the big stage.

Or....we have 30 years of this organization making these kind of bumbling mistakes that cost us a season.

Dallas should have done this during training camp. Brian Schottenheimer says Tyler Smith thumb injury has been an issue most of training camp but something he tried to play through until he and team decided to permanently resolve issue before season starts.Hand strength and grip essential to offensive line play.

Yup, they waited until it is gonna cost the max amount of games missed vs doing it a month+ ago and maybe getting him back for the whole season. Stupid.

Usually you try to see if can work through it and let it heal naturally. Surgery is not always the first option
