So we are suddenly ok protecting the franchise QB with a project LT? WOW. Talk about drinkin the spiked punch.
NOT OK but sometime you roll with it and see what happens, although id prefer, they pick up at least one Vet Tackle to paly swing and if needed start with Smith-Mcgovern-biadsz-martin-steele and of smith struggles you have vet to put him in slide smith back to LG move out McGovern etc.

somehow cinci was ok letting burrows just roll with what he had all year right to the SB that line wasnt much more then average.

What if Tyler Smith is actually a good-great LT. We have a young kid that has shown talent, work ethic and good character at 21 years old to hold down the LT spot for the next 10+ years. He’s going to make rookie mistakes but what if he actually improves each week and turns into a dominating LT just like everybody started to predict about LG as they saw him play more and more LG in the preseason. Suck on that you negative Nancys. :)
Here is my issue with this potential move. I can see him as an All Pro type of ceiling for LG.

I can't say that he can even be pro bowl level at LT. I think he is likely above average. I would need to obviously see him out there but I don't like it if they move him.

but why? Why roll with that when an answer to fix it is available? Why risk Dak? This means McGovern will start at LG and face the dominant Bucs interior. I hate this idea.

well said. We are cutting off our nose to spite our face if we make this change. LEAVE HIM AT GUARD. He gives us an advantage inside with his raw power. If we move him thats all gone.

I can't think of many rookie LTs that were actually good year 1.
Slater was one , Jake Long another. Both were way more polished
Jerry ain't giving a no 1 pick to fill this need as its time for our star players to STEP it up!!
The man said himself and frankly as I hate to say this but I agree with him 100%
We got a # 1 pick for this spot and we go with what we got baby!
LOL..... Ok season is a wash cause a non-playmaker(LT) is out till December????
Have you guys been watching the NFL or the NHL????

Keep this kid in the phone booth where he gets to maul.

I am fine with trying to cover up LT until someone solidifies it.

so will we,

their OL isnt much better ... Parsons, tank, barr, cox, Williams, fowler, etc etc already have their silverware out..so please stop once again giving the other team props as if their situation is much better

might be a reverse game of last year, not as much offense much more defense, run game and a lower score.
im just telling the truth.

DITTO whose more mobile dak or brady :)) who statically handles pressure better, not brady recently he hates to be moved off his spot..Dak stats on when pressured are pretty high up in the league..last year late teams stopped blitzing him played more coverage.

is it negative is its true? Just askin. What changed within the last few days when Tyler was slated exclusively as the next great LG? Most of his reps have been there. What changed was Tyrons injury. Now suddlenly "it was the plan all along?" lmao k RIGHT. No sale. Cue the negative Nancy connotations.

It was pretty clear that the Cowboys drafted Tyler with the intent he would eventually take the reigns at LT so technically it was in the plan. However, it certainly didn't include him starting there week 1 22. We have a tough first 2 games, so grabbing some veteran insurance would be a good idea in case there are some early growing pains.

He could be, but it's asking a lot of a rookie to start at LT. Even those taken in the top 10 often struggle with it their first year, and, of course, some of them never pan out.

What we know about Smith is that he's a very strong player, but he has some hand placement issues. We saw that in college, where he was heavily penalized, and we saw that at guard in the preseason at times. Fair expectations would be that he'll make quite a few mistakes, especially early in the season. Fair hope is that by the end of the season, he'll have worked out the kinks and be on his way to being our permanent LT.

I don't know if they move him to LT or Not. I think Ball will get the Nod but we will see. Everyone is in panic mode on here I see. I seem to remember the Cowboys starting a 4th round draft pick at the most important position on the field and to date, it was his best season. And just like that year, they can do things to help out the young player, whether it is Ball or Smith or anyone else. There are lots of way to scheme a game plan that will limit the impact of a young tackle. No matter who is there, we will see if the coaching can step up and make it work.

If y'all recall, even Tyron struggled when he started as most rookie LT's pushed into the starting role do.

I think the idea was the future at LT for him and the future is upon them.
