I think he'll have to settle for possibly being the rookie of the year in our hearts. Which is no small potatoes.

Gotta admit, when I saw that huge man getting to the second and 3rd level defenders downfield my adrenaline got to pumping a bit.

Keep it up Tyler, you are a main reason for this o-line's strong incremental improvement.

The scarcity of OL awards as rookies gives a good opportunity for something new...

Should there be an OLROY award?? I mean, since there's NEVER going to be an OL to win the standard award for Rookie of the year?

I think Drake London is the guy.

This is an award that's literally never been given to an OL, I believe.
Chris Olave is the betting fav
Chris Olave was just named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month so I would think he leads the race. I'm not sure they would ever give the award to an offensive lineman. They have been handing out the award since 1967 and an offensive lineman has never won it. It has always been a RB, WR, or QB win the award.
Might be a season-long battle between London and Olave___
London - 16 rec, 214 yds, 2 TD, 14 1st downs, 13.4 ypc, long rec 31 yds
Olave - 17 rec, 268 yds, 0 TD, 8 1st downs, 15.8 ypc, long rec 51 yds.
With the Falcons, London will get plenty of oppodtunites with opposing defenses concentrating on stopping TE Kyle Pitts.
With the Saints, Olave will get plenty of opportunities with opposing defenses concentrating on stopping WR Michael Thomas + QB Winston propensity of slinging the ball deep.

I don't see the need for a ROY for the offensive line - or any other position.
NFL All-Rookie team is sufficent; I believe the top two guys at every position on offense and defense, plus specialists= kickers, are awarded.

Bingo! The award has been given to 35 RBs, 10 WRs, and 10 QBs since 1967.
NFL OROY is basically the equivalent of the Heisman Trophy.
Even though the award is name after an offensive lineman - John Heisman played tackle, guard, and center while at Brown and Penn - no offensive lineman (or a defensive lineman either) has ever won that award.

Too bad.... The winner could have been known as a good ol Roy....

It's almost as if they should have a separate award for lineman. They will never win since it's really a QB,WR,RB award.

Could Smith be the top candidate for Offensive ROY?
I don't see any other Draft pick having as much impact as he is.
That would be something if he were to win given the skepticism of the pick by the Cowboys.
I don't watch other Teams NFL games, but Smith is certainly making a case for himself with his stellar play.
The Giants top 10 pick OT got owned by DLaw while Smith was blowing up the Giants D Line.
I was not a fan of Smith starting at LT and I was most certainly wrong.

I agree he has done nothing to knock him off the path of OROY. I do agree to tap the brakes, if he continues this output through the Rams and Eagles game I am willing to bring out the anointing oil for both Smith and Will McClay.

Although Tyler has been lights out and still early ......doubtful he will be OROY candidate. Going all the way back to 1967, i found that only QB, WR and RB have been given this award. NO linemen or even TE. So we can safely say, not a chance.

Not if he keep getting too many holding penalties.

considering a OL has never won it it's doubtful.

It's kind of sad that they don't stand a chance, but it's a stats game. He's getting praise, but praise is usually forgotten and all you're left with are numbers. He'll have none of those.
