Tap the brakes! LOL When’s the last time someone on the OL was named offensive rookie of the year? Smith is doing a good job but some of you continue to get carried away.

The last time I saw a dominate LT play from a rookie was Jake Long back in 2008. And back then he had to compete with Flacco, Ryan and Forte.

It's a hard award for a Olineman to win. While the QB's haven't been on fire recently as rookies, the skill from WR/RB's at the position create a lot of hype.

Tyler Smith will need some type of Larry Allen domination on a prime time game, and John Madden to come back and hype the hell out of him during the game.

That's a good comp actually. If Allen couldn't win the award. we should never expect a rookie OL to do it. Allen started 10 games as a rookie and helped the team establish a then-team record for fewest sacks allowed with 20. Tyler's best hope is to end up on the all-rookie team like Allen did.

Could Smith be the top candidate for Offensive ROY?
I don't see any other Draft pick having as much impact as he is.
That would be something if he were to win given the skepticism of the pick by the Cowboys.
Zack Martin didn't win it despite being 1st team All Pro as a rookie.

OBJ won it that year but he was not All Pro and has never made 1st team All Pro...

Well, you look at who votes on these awards. all they care about is the flash and the applause a player gets.

It doesn't happen often but it did happen last year (LT rashon slater made 2nd team all-pro as a rookie). He had an elite season which is rare for a rookie LT

Oh course. How could I forget Slater. But to be fair I didn't watch LAC that much compared to Miami.
