Tyler Smith to meet with Schottenheimer about his future

You know its bad when the HC can’t even define the position for one of the best players on his team.

You put people where they can shine. It’s management 101.
I'm not reading too much into this. Smith will go back to being an All Pro guard in 2026.

We just needed someone to come in and play LT down the stretch, and since we have 4+ solid guards, it made sense to bump Smith out to tackle and put Bass at guard down the stretch to have your best 5 on the field.

Not sure what's up with Guyton, but they felt IR was the best move for him.

Well they have no LT as of right now. They very likely won't draft one until possibly their 4th round pick as both 1st rounders will go to defense. So that leaves FA and there is 0 chance of them finding a starter at LT there.

Trade? possible they throw out the 2027 2nd or 1st for one, but that is a long shot. So they will go with the tried and true practice of starting Guyton, unless they do this with Tyler.

People need to realize it's not simple as just having Smith play at hist best position. What's important is they need to figure out who our best 5 OL are. They need to decide if having Smith at LT, Bass at LG, and Guyton at RT is better than having Guyton at LT, Smith at LG and Steele or someone else at RT.

Here we go again with the musical chairs on the O line. Dak will be running for his life next year. Defense will improve and the offense will suffer. Its just a fact of life at this point
