Tyler Warren and tet are both on the board what does Dallas do ?

Oh I’m just basing it on all the projections I’ve seen. He’s a consensus first round pick and best tight end available. From what I’ve seen I don’t see what everyone else sees honestly. I’m perfectly fine with Schoon and Ferg over him.
They have him over Loveland? No joke? Wow.

More picks is far less important than solid evaluations of said picks.

Getting more picks isn't a magic bullet to get better players. You get more picks.

What round was DaRon Bland taken in?
You literally can’t draft as many players if you don’t have as many picks. What is hard to understand about that?

Tet easily. I like Warren, but the positional value difference between them is immense. The highest paid TE now makes as much as the 22nd highest paid WR.

I think Tet is like a Michael Pittman, Drake London type of player. Pittman plays for $23M a season, and London's probably going to get high 20Ms to 30M per season whenever he re-ups.

For comparison, George Kittle plays for $15M a year, Kelce makes $17M/yr, and Trey McBride just resigned for $19M/yr. So in terms of salary, Warren would have to become a special player and hit his best-case ceiling to even reach Tet's floor.
Well worded!

Your explanation is based on the team having those players ranked on a similar tier. If they have the TE ranked as a top 5 type player on their board l, then it's a different story.

Zack Martin was drafted at 16 and Brandin Cooks at 20 in the same draft.
- WR is a higher position value than OG but Martin was as close as it gets to a guarantee in the draft.

Better than Witten?

I'm not a fan because I like Ferg and Schoon. I think there's still a ceiling there that's untapped.
Witten had some good hands he could really catch the ball , yeah he was a great player too great blocker .Warren would be a luxury pick for Dallas at 12 I get it, but he is a tremendous talent and would be hard to pass up if he is there at 12.

For what it's worth... I think Tet and Tyler Warren carry similar grades as far as being pure football players, and they're both really damn good. There's very little chance that either one busts in the NFL. I'd say they're both like 90% certain to become quality starters.

But if we're talking about Warren versus some of the shakier WRs in this class, like say Matthew Golden or Luther Burden (IMO), then the math changes. Say there's a 50% chance that Luther Burden becomes a Brandin Cooks type player and puts up a bunch of 1,000 yard seasons, and a 50% chance that he's a Rondale Moore type player and becomes a fringe NFLer. Warren's expected value is higher than Burden, even if he plays a less valuable position.

I'd take Tet over Warren no sweat. Egbuka vs Warren would be a push, but I'd probably go with Warren just because he has more special traits. I'd happily take Warren over Burden, Golden, and Bond.

On a side note, I think this is one of the things the Detroit Lions have stumbled upon. They draft a lot of "no chance this guy will suck" players, and part of it's Dan Campbell culture building, but I think they realized that the NFL doesn't weight risk heavily enough for draft prospects. Medical, legal, character, etc risks with college players tend to show up pretty often in the pros, and bite pretty hard. We've seen that with all the Jerry 2nd round specials.

I think Lions taking Jameson Williams and Gibbs when they did was risky though. I don't think Jameson will ever be as good as his draft selection was. But you find St. Brown later in the draft and that makes up for that.

More picks is always better than fewer picks. Getting more picks lowers the risk of making a bad pick. Player evaluation are always hit and miss. The best way to off set that risk, is with more picks.

I think Dallas would value the WR over a TE if stuck on players when on the clock.

For me, I would take Warren.

WR's have always been paid more than T.E.s but if you can find a high ceiling T.E., that's a nightmare matchup for a lot of defenses.

KC let go of Hill, but they still produced when it mattered.
NE had a bunch of JAGS at WR, but still could convert when they had the Brady-Gronk connection.

Good post

Positional value financially doesn't determine which player is better for the team. There are TEs that are the #1 option for their teams and even more TEs that are #2 options. What's the point of drafting a lesser player because his position cost more on the market?

Dak's #2 option is his TE, and multiple QBs are the same way, so a TE shouldn't be overlooked. Actually, financially, it would be cheaper to have a top TE over a top WR2.
Example: TE - Trey McBride $19M/yr or Tee Higgins $28/yr (Devonta Smith $25M/yr)

I'm not going after your post because it's solid in the approach, however, some teams use a different model of team building by going with the TE as the 2nd option. Dallas has used this model, but if Ferguson has a down year things look bad as fans look to the WR2 as the problem when he's really a 3rd option.
not to speak for him, but the logic is just that fielding a team with a cost proportioned talent is easier w/ a rookie wr than a te. the te may be better, may be substantially better, but you can get a really good te for far cheaper. it's just value over replacement.

I actually like both of these players. After last season it became apparent that we need playmakers.

In round 1, I'm going for Tet or Warren. If not available, trade down or draft BPA DT or CB.

I think Maxwell Harrison is a first round prospect. Maybe not 12, but snatch him in a trade down and I'd be happy with their decision.
Some of these fans crack me up they’re like we gotta build the trenches if we wanna compete with Philly!

Im liek guys were a clown show we barely count as a real team. We just saw Frederick and tyron and Martin retire. We built the trenches. I wanna see a tall *** receiver now

I agree with you again, Warren is a generational type TE talent that just comes along once in a while if he falls to 12 you run to the podium .He is Gronk 2.0 plain and simple he becomes Dak's safety blanket .Then I would trade down in the second and pick best player available the rest of the draft ,Go Cowboys,Warren helps bring you Super Bowl 6 soon.
I wasn’t into Warren at all last month but I saw his tape finally and realized his natural ability is just different. He anlso seems like a really likable hardworking guy. Which is also infectious.

Look at our current roster most of our star players are kind of moody right ?

Have you guys seen Tyler Warren interviews? He’s probably gonna go really high someone might even trade up to get him bc Im sure a few franchises fell in love

I was thinking why even take Tet if his big question is getting off blocks? Warren does all the same stuff

I wouldn't be mad if we went up a couple spots to get him. He's a going to be a player.

I don't think he'll be there at 12.
