Tyron looked old against the niners

I always wonder if Jerry has a backdoor deal with some of those guys. Hey, you take a little less here, then come back and see me three years after retirement, and we will have a nice cushy job working for the team for 20 years.
LOL, me too. If I were him I'd buy Danon Yogurt and get Dak and Micah to take middle of the road deals. Then pay them the max via yogurt endorsements to bypass the cap. I'm sure the league would catch on but I bet nothing is stopping Jerry for giving endorsers a little cushion to launder extra salary to his players, lol.

How did the other ex cowboys look? I saw Dan Quinn defense was awful
I may be misremembering but I'm pretty sure Bosa has whopped up on him a few times. I don't recall the most stellar playoff performances vs the 9ers.

He was great last year, too. When he's healthy, he's a top tackle. But he's always an inch from the injury report.

I was going to post something about this. Tyron was getting beat with speed outside. Sometimes the DE went so wide on him he couldn't get back to the QB though. What I did notice is once Tyron got his hands on the DEs, they were stoned. Tyron is still strong. Also, he wasn't getting any help with Bosa. He took him on one on one. Certainly, he is at the end of his career, but he is still very good. I would like to see him go one on one with Garrett.

The Jets surprised me with how bad they were against the 49ers. The defense could not stop the run and allowed some huge holes right up the middle. I thought defense would be their strength this year.

Was not a good game for him but looking at the Jets schedule at SF is by far the hardest game for them on their schedule so I wouldn't be surprised if by mid-season Tyron bounces back. He had a season recently here like that where he looked old and slow the first game or 2 and then went on like a 6 or 7 game streak of no penalties and barely any QB pressures.

He's looked this way in the first couple of weeks for a long time.

The first month of the season is his training camp.

He looked as fast as Mazi coming out of his stance.

Funny stuff. Everyone here saying he looked old but no mention of why or how many sacks he gave up! Thx…
and the fact that many were crying that we let him go, the man is always injured has a lost many of steps, it's time to retire

Tyron played on a team friendly deal with the cowboys for like a decade. So I actually totally understand him accepting the 6.5 mil the jets wanted to pay him.
Hard Dislike.
Tyron played no more than 13 games in a season since 2015.
2020: 2 games --10 million cash
2021: 11 games --10.5 m cash
2022: 4 games -- 13.5M cash

So he was playing for insane money per game.
He had a great year in 2023. 13 games, made All Pro and he jetted.
2023: 7.3M cash. The ONE year he was an actual bargain.

Tyron is a future Hall of Famer but he also made over 120M with the Dallas Cowboys.
From 2014 to 2022 he NEVER made less than 10M in cash in a single year.

Tyron did look old. He’s still better than what the jets previously had.

Tyron was also playing against Bosa most of the night. That’s a tough defense for any OL player. So I’ll gonna withhold judgment a bit longer.
Yes, he looked old in the movement aspect of playing LT, got beat off the edge too easily on several occasions. And we all know with Smith it was never about his ability to play LT at a high level, it's the injuries he's had. I'm assuming the Jets will manage his practices and game time as Dallas did, but even so, it's a long season, we'll see if he wears down or misses games due to injury. If he does, then I'd agree that letting him leave was for the best interests of the Cowboys....

Dallas was going to have to move on at some point.
They never asked Tryon to perform any media function or public appearances.
They let him be as private as he wanted.

Now he has a different role in NY and Dallas has a new LT with a 2.3M cap hit.

Makes sense that an older player who is mothballed for the preseason comes out slow.
Yep.. throw in the need to loosen up a stiff back and a surgically repaired neck and this is what you get. I think once Tyron gets his sea legs he's gonna be okay.

Much as Jerry gets critcism for his overpaying players, paying based on too short of a time to really see what a player can do, etc. I applaud Jerry for his loyalty to not only players, but coaches as well. Remember Monte Kiffin? Signed to improve the defense, but he was not effective at it. So Jerry didn't fire him completely, he gave him a cushy job with the team as a "consultant". What do you bet Kiffin had a desk in the facillty, sat in on meetings, etc. but was just a figurehead?

Ex-governor John Connely of Texas was on the letterhead of the Vinson and Elkins law firm for years, but to my knowledge (and I have some knowledge of the firm) he never tried a case or even worked on a case. But having an ex-Govenor on your law firm names was worth money.

Wish I could get a job like that!

I think this is Zack Martins last year too,we either draft a guard or move someone like Asim Richards to guard

The kid who we subbed in for him when he went out a couple of times last season did just fine. Was it TJ Bass? I honestly think Martin's heir apparent is already on the roster. But I don't think it's Richards.

Tyron started like 165 games at the 2nd most valuable position in the entire sport and the cowboys paid him around $115 million total.

You can cherry pick some years but reality is what I just stated is 100% team friendly.

A higher per year but shorter 2nd deal (extension) and then a final 3rd deal around 2019 would of realistically paid him close to 200 million......
