Peters looked good at RT but I would prefer not to play him for entire games until the playoffs.

Next week is key because Tyron probably does not play that game.
Now the title and early post points out that Tyron played RT from his Freshman year to his 2nd year in the NFL where he switched to LT. Are you suggesting Tyron move to the right? That is something I had suggested before the draft, as he was an elite RT, and him missing games at RT wouldn't be as critical as LT. Depending on the severity of his injury, Steele could be hampered next season

Tyron at LT, Tyler at LG and Peters at RT.

That’s getting our best 5 on the field and gives us our best chance to win. We’re going to miss Steelers athleticism in the run game but pass pro is a bigger weakness and Peters will def be better than Ball.

Tyron played RT in college and his rookie season in the NFL...

I think Tyler has always played on the Left (High School, College, NFL).

Peters looked good at RT but I would prefer to limit his snaps until the playoffs.

  • FYI:
    • I did a quick review of the game and counted 3 bad snaps for Josh Ball.
    • That's not good but it's not a Chaz Green level of fail.
    • Fans love to exaggerate.

My guess is that Tyron does not play next week.
- If not, then I think they rotate Peters and somebody (probably Ball) at RT.

I thought of this too and am generally open to it. Tyron has more experience both recently and overall to the RT position and it would allow the already jelled left side to stay intact. My ONLY concern is that runs off RT tend to get grungy and not sure either Tyron OR Peters can handle that toll.

As for Ball - the problem is when he fails, he FAILS BIG. Like - he doesn't engage for 1.2 seconds and then get beat. He completely whiffs and give a free run to the QB.

We are in a bad way with this scenario because T. Smith and J. Peters are old and injury prone - they will not last the remaining games + playoff game/s if playing full time.
We have to hope that Ball can miraculously start playing solid! We are hanging on by a thread on the OL and secondary - no depth and we have 4 regular season games remaining..... Not good...but hey... the niners haven't missed a beat with their 3rd string QB starting so we have NO excuses....

I doubt if Tyron plays this week.

They'll start Peters but rotate Ball in with him this week.

Once Tyron is back, it would make the most sense to play him at RT.

Even with Steele healthy:
Tyler / Tyron is better than Tyron / Steele in my opinion.
Steele like Tyler have been real good run blockers, but Tyler has struggled more as a pass protector this season. I agree, makes sense to move Tyron over and keep continuity on the left side. Think McGovern has played well this season and wouldn't be opposed in resigning him to a modest extension.

@xwalker, did you watch the all 22 yet? I'm curious as to how much 12 personnel we ran yesterday. I was at work and missed a lot of the game. From what I saw, there were a lot of 3 wr sets.

Only 29 combined snaps by the TEs 2/3/4 of 71 total offensive snaps.

Compare to the Colts game...those 3 had 57 of 68 snaps.

Part of it was that Ferguson was injured early.

Noah Brown might have been the mvp of the game.

Thanks brother. Noah was very active, although the longer we go away from the multiple TE sets the more I notice the offense isn't as fluent. That's just what I've noticed when I'm paying attention anyway. I hope we can run Hendershot as the 2nd and not shy away from those sets if Ferguson misses any time.

Tyron Smith played RT in college at USC. But I would keep him at LT and move Peters to RT. He was a RT conversion to LT which is very rare and shows you what an athlete he was coming out of high school.

Ball was to blame for both the sack-fumble and the interception that followed it. His man hit Dak on back to back plays.

So you are right, the negatives are what we remember, but Ball looked like the same mess he was in the preseason. Peters has to be the RT going forward unless the coaches see something in Aviante Collins.
