I know that Tyron Smith will arrive in Canton as one of the best left tackles of his time but damn, he has been a no show more times than I can count over the last 8 seasons. Looking at his career over this time he has missed 4 games so far this season, 5 in 2022, 5 in 2021, 14 in 2020, 3 in 2019, 3 in 2018, 2 in 2017 and 3 in 2016. No one knows what his pain tolerance is etc. but he sure does have a propensity not to play hurt or dinged up.. 39 games missed in the last 7 1/2 seasons. That is a lot of games missed for any teams Hall of Fame left tackle!
The dude has a back issue. My guess is spondylolisthesis, which is abnormal curvature of the lower spine. Back in the day, if you had it, you would be restricted from being sent to Vietnam, because it's unpredictable and debilitating any time you have an episode.

Our fans are brutal. Take Parsons' roughing penalty for instance... My guess is that stemmed from frustration from our "fans" talking smack. Our fans act like these players are robots: no feelings, no injuries, just go out there and win.. And if you don't, then you're of no worth to the fanbase. At some point, you have to realize that, no matter how well-intended, that sort of thing has an impact on the field...

Just my two cents. Not that anyone cares. I'm just saying. These players are human, at the end of the day. Easy to lose sight of that.

The absence of Tyron Smith cost us that game last night.
I'd argue is was Luepke's fumble on the RPO call.. McCarthy should have just made it a run call. Would have worked. To me, it looked like they were getting cute with the RPO, and Luepke just didn't grab the ball thinking Dak was going to pull it back and pass.

There was some serious creativity on that first drive. But it was all for not after the fumble. I was happy to see us coming out with a different look. It should have helped. And it was a perfect series of calls by MM, up until that last call on the goal line.

Oh well. That game could have gone either way, which is what I expected. At the end of the day, the refs made the difference. Yet again. Crazy.

The fact is, his impact is irreplaceable. You don't find players like him every year.

Because he keeps missing games and fans are tired of it. They’re hoping we can replace him with a player we can count on to be available consistently.
Find a replacement first that can play anywhere near his level when he's in there. Good luck.

The people who criticize Tyron’s toughness have obviously never had neck/back issues.

So freakin frustrating, he’s playing amazing, at least at a pro bowl level, but like usual he’s easily banged up. Dude needs a stem cell injection in South America and an oxygen chamber at home.

But not for a player that has done much more and carried more weight than any Hall of Fame Tackle. I think Tyron has given his all for this team and has wore himself out. He will probably need a fusion to fix that back issue in his later years..

I think the trend is, Dak sucks without Tyron Smith.. maybe they should give Smith 70 million a year.. like I said, extending Dak in this context would be a disaster..

Whatever magic 49ers trainers have used on Trent Williams… would like some of that stuff for Tyron Smith
Last five years he’s missed 3, 2, 3, 4, 7, 5

No one is bullet proof.
