The stinger is the more worrisome of the two, if that's indeed what the trigger for the spasms are. The stinger indicates nerve trauma - never a good thing.
I think it's something he's been dealing with it since training camp. Somebody on twitter compared it to what Sean Lee was dealing with last year. So, I guess it's just one of those things that lingers until you can rest it.

You can interpret it as negatively as you want but this is being handled exactly the way back spasms are handled.

Your avatar matches your posting style to a tee (grumpy and ornery). It's been killing me, I had to finally say it! :) What do they call that, avatar/comment synergy? Lol

sorry op for derailing the thread somewhat

This is a potentially scary injury. Tyron Smith is the best in the business, and arguably the best player on the Cowboy roster. Having a tackle with back issues is a scary proposition.
Not arguably, he is the best player on the roster, followed by Martin and Frederick.

LOL, Green is the starting LT if Tyron can't go. So we'd need a new reserve tackle.

You don't sign backups for one single week. Cleary wouldn't even be able to learn all of his blocking assignments by next game. Besides, Martin is the next player who would go in at tackle, with Joe Looney the reserve G/C.

Whether he makes it back sooner rather than later, this indicates they are worried about Tyron being out for several weeks. I'm not sure how this could be any more obvious.

or maybe they're thinking that going into the games with no reserve tackle is a bad idea,,,

I think it's more about losing Collins, too. We went into last Sunday's game with Leary and Looney as the backups, so the plan was to put either Collins or Martin at tackle if Green or Free got hurt. Collins getting hurt forced us to bring in a backup since all we had left was Looney.

We've got to get our left side of the OL healthy before Romo's return. I can't imagine his blind side being unprotected .

That exactly what they acquired Emmett Cleary for, although he'd surely be rushed into action early if needed.

He's a big one, though, at 6-7, 324. He's had previous experience with the Giants before joining the Cowboys.

Same difference, losing Collins indirectly loses us an option at reserve tackle for the reasons you stated. Any way you look at it, we were going into a situation without reserve options.

I assumed the signing was due to Collins being injured long term.

This doesn't help the guard situation in any way though unless they are planning to be down an extra tackle as well for an extended period of time.

EDIT: This could theoretically mean that Looney is so bad at guard that they are planning on moving Green to guard if one Leary or Martin get hurt, but that's complete speculation.

Yeah! We need a coaching staff that will stop hurting our feelings all the time.
Yeah..

Sort of like that girlfriend that lies to us when you ask her where she was.

You know she isn't being strait with her answers but you can't prove it.

You know its time to move on but you hate to start over again..

so you let it slide.

That's our coaches.
