If the team is winning with a rookie LT (who's playing great) that was drafted to replace the guy that got hurt, why go back to the injured LT?

Because a healthy Tyron is a better LT than Tyler Smith. 73 is the future— but while he is playing well for a rookie— he is still giving up more in pass pro than a healthy Tyron.

Even if they decide to keep Tyler at LT, and Tyron is the swing tackle— what a huge addition to your roster. Depth is key and getting Tyron back is only a good thing

Not before Pollard fell on his leg and rendered him one-legged. Before that he was killin fools.. and he rushed himself back from that injury twice and was never anywhere near top form for most of the second half of the season. I think a healthy Tyron is the best in the business.. but of late he simply hasn't been healthy enough. But if we have a chance to get that guy for a 5-6 game stretch.. two to end the regular season and then the playoffs I'm taking that chance every time. But again, he has to show it in practice or it's no dice.
I wish I could share your point of view on this, but I don’t. I still think Tyron is in our top 5 players but I think Tyler Smith is playing OT at a higher level than Tyron was.

Tyron is not yet “done” but the fat lady is warming up to sing on his career. Moving Tyron inside to guard may actually prolong his career. Speed edge rushers are starting to get the best of him.

Yeah people are way over critical of him and the fact that he called him average 100% means he has no idea what the other left tackles in the NFL are. It's a classic case of somebody being so elite that when they take a step back people just assume their now average but in reality their top end was so high that even with a step back they're still a top five player

Tyron last year with two different teammates crashing into his ankle still graded out as the second best left tackle on PFF and for those that want to pull the whole "pff is a joke" guess what ? The all pro team voted him as the 3rd best left tackle in the entire NFL.......

Rose colored glasses.
That excuse only works if you're arguing against a single outlier.

There's literally not a single outlier last season. All 22, PFF, All pro team, Pro bowl, and NFL top 100 all rated him extremely high.

A handful of people on a cowboys' forum (most of whom couldn't even tell you who the top 3 left tackles are in the NFC and AFC) are the outliers. Shocker

I'm hoping to see Peters come in as a TE & McGovern come in as a FB and pound the rock with Zeke & Pollard running misdirection plays.

I do not see him being in football shape that late in the season to start at LT. I think playing him sparingly when he comes back so he can have time to get in game shape gives us more depth on the O-line. Keep Young Smith at LT since he is the future. I would only pull him back to LG if he starts to regress later in the season as he adjusts to a 17-game schedule. I doubt that he will have any problems though.

His leg is still 3-4 weeks from being fully regrown.

They probably rubbed it 3 times a day with some Miracle-Gro to hasten the growth and expedite his recovery. Old medicine man trick. Although, It will be a lovely shade of autumn green and with no brown patches or crabgrass.

It does seem like he was getting called for holding a lot.

So, if the line is really performing do you really mess with the chemistry? I get the "appeal" of what a healthy Tyron could bring to the table.... but I'm skeptical at this point in his career.

I mean the perfect scenario would be he subs in when we have large leads and you get a chance to get him up to speed & see where he really is rather than just shuffle the lineup just because.

I get that he is a decorated player and due a lot of respect but I've got to see him look like his dominant self rather than the shell we saw the last few times he took the field.

you put your best 5 out there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If Tyler need a game or two to make adjustment to LG so be it.
