Tyron Smith vs the run

man give it up. We know you hate Smith, we get it. And run blocking is not as important as pass blocking any more anyway. In time Smith will be loads better then Sherrod anyway.

Maybe if you're a LT.

Our run blocking is even worse than our pass blocking as things stand, so I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss a Top 10 prospects ability to run block.

Jake Long propelled himself to #1 overall status on the back of his dominant run blocking.

I agree with Catch that Carimi is probably the best run blocking tackle in this class, if he was just quicker in pass protection, he might have been the best rated LT in this class.

He's not nearly as bad as the OP makes him out to be. I think he attempting to play the other side of the coin because of all the "i love you Tyron" threads that have become extremely nauseating . Perhaps though to the point of he himself becoming just as annoying.

OP has been against Smith since day one. Started a bunch of threads saying the same thing.

I'm not as fascinated by Smith as many are either. I do see his value over the long haul though. I think Sherrod may be able to play LT as well. He doesn't have quite the upside that Smith has though. I agree with others Carimi is the most NFL ready tackle but I think he projects to the right side.

I like Sherrod. No way I'd take him over Smith though. The kid is 20 and his ceiling is through the roof.

Yes, lets not discuss our most likely draft pick

Look at the video and see Smith in the run game.

Now look at Sherrod who looks alot better in the run game.

tell me what ya think.

There's a huge difference in the type of clips you just posted for each player.

Smith's is a collection of snaps (either good or bad) taken from one game.

Sherrod's is an actual compilation of highlights (you know, good plays...) taken from a bunch of different games.

It's no wonder why one would appear glaringly better than the other.

I think that's the problem for folks who really haven't seen Smith play in an actual game, snap-for-snap. They turn to YouTube to get familiar with the player and see a few videos which aren't traditional highlight clips and walk away feeling ho-hum about the player.

Ask Ricky Herring of Arizona what it is like to go up against Tyron Smith.

I don't think you're comprehending the point I'm trying to make.

Smith's video isn't a "highlight" clip like Sherrod's is. So it's unfair to look at the two and say "hey, Sherrod has all these great plays and Smith, not so much."

I didnt even click the links.

Odds are I already saw Tyron's clip and I feel fine w/ him as a run blocker.

I was agreeing with you. Smith is a beast. That video tells you nothing.

Whether that's the case or not, it's not outlandish to suggest that run blocking is currently the weakest part of his game.

not saying that my man discuss away unfortunatley most threads turns into pissing match's kinda sad

I do want to say that I'm not a Tyron apologist. I like Sherrod a lot and wouldn't bat an eye if we choose to make him the OT of the future.

I just believe in objectivity, and comparing those two clips when they're so fundamentally different is unfair to draw a conclusion from IMO.

Highlights. Oh and on the 2nd play he is the guy who comes clear across the field and springs the WR downfield.

Sherrod did go up against better defenses than Smith on a week to week basis....and he had to block for and protect far inferior talent than Smith.
