Tyron Smith

I think it’s his back. They got to get a new franchise LT. Go watch some sack highlights......on one sack,a guy blew right by him to the outside and Dak never had a chance. That was enough for me.
I’m afraid you’re right CP. Ty Smith used to be one of the 3 best LTs in football. Now he’s not even a shadow of his former self. It’s really sad. He looks like a 40 year old trying to hustle. Back injuries are a killer.

The last 3 years of Doug Free's career was 14'-16'. Tyron has made the pro bowl every year he's been in the league. 1st team all pro 2014. 2nd team all pro 2015. And again 1st team all pro 2016.

That's barely being better than Doug Free? I swear some people just don't have any common sense on here. Lmao smh..

Tyron Smith has been the best OT in the league in some years. He is not currently playing anywhere near that level right now.

That's not the point. Can you read? The guy said earlier in this thread that Tyron in his prime was barely better than Doug Free. There's no doubt that hes not playing like himself. But were talking about 2014-2016.

He hasn't been all pro material the last 3 years.
We're not talking about last year or this year. Can you read?? The guy said Tyron IN HIS PRIME was barely better than Doug Free. Please try to know what you're responding to before you mouth off. Thanks.

Never said that. Why is it you and others use emoticons or LMAO? That doesn't rebut anything. I said look at the stats and have yet to see a reply. If all you guys have is the above including a personal attack I'm thru.
You commented - "I said years ago he was only a little better than Free and was dismissed. But he is playing as if injured. I think his back is bothering him. His posture looks like it. His base is too broad and he's too slow. Not near the Tyron of old."

I reply - "So you're telling me when he was in his prime, you thought he was barely better than Free? No wonder you were dismissed lmao."

You reply - "Go back and look at the stats. I make my mind up based on what I see not what others think."

Pretty much doubling down on your beliefs that he was barely better than Doug Free when he was still here. "Never said that", don't try that with me lol. We all saw what you wrote that earlier in this thread. Disregarding Tyron's play the last 2 years, you honestly cant believe that he was "only a little bit better" than Free. That's why I called you delusional.

He just isn’t the same “T.Smith” anymore. My big question concern now is Fredrick. There’s no telling what level he can play at. Hoping he’ll be ok...but if not? That’ll be 2 biggies on the line to replace.

We have all pro left tackle sitting on our roster in Zack Martin. Time to move him over. And dont give me the, dont want to move him nonsense. LT is way more important than guard. And finding and paying guards are a lot easier.

I wouldn’t do that. But even stil, you’re still having to replace 2 biggies on the line. These aren’t garden variety players. These are all-pros.

So I guess you've ignored the numerous times it's been posted that Dak has had the third most time to pass in the league per drop back? I don't believe it's all on Dak either. This team needs a lot more 3 step drops and a lot less 7 steps, but Tyron has done his job well. This is nitpicking just to nitpick.

That is complete garbage that Dak has had time like that. All you have to do is watch the games to know that. If Dak is running for his life that is counting as time to throw. No chance he has had the 3rd most time to throw then any QB. In the first half last week on like 20 drop backs he was sacked 3 times and pressured on 12 of 20 drop backs. Total and complete garbage.

Martin at LT, Smith at RT, Collins back to guard where he plays better, Frederick back in the middle and Conner a year older and stronger at the other guard. Ill take that line as long as Smith doesnt spiral completely down the tubes.

I think anybody's who ever dealt with back issues would mostly agree with me that that's probably the most likely case. I train Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and I've had lower back issues off and on the past year or so and while I'm not an elite or professional athlete I can't imagine someone trying to train and compete at that level with that kind of pain. I stretch and lift and do core exercises just about everyday just to try to help prevent the pain, but I have a good feeling that between the training and practices and games themselves he's probably just further aggravating the back problems and even if he took time off it'd probably do wonders for him but there's a good chance the issues would eventually return.

But I can comment on this, when I'm in pain and I decide to train (which is never really a good idea but we all do stupid stuff from time to time) I don't have a fraction of the flexibility, strength, and explosiveness I normally would so it shocks me that he can even go out there and compete at all. If anyone saw UFC fighter Derrick Lewis' last fight he has back issues and it kinda caused him to look like a shell of himself.

Don't respond to me and expect an answer until you look and comment on the stats. And calling someone delusional is against the guidelines so try not to repeat that. That's an aside and has nothing to add to the discussion so don't let that stop you from having a good conversation.

I provieded you with all pro selections compared to Free who never achieved any selection or award in the pros. It's hard to find stats pertaining to offensive linemen that arent just total of games played and snaps played. Show me a link where it shows all his pancakes, snacks given up, ect. I'm waiting,

That's your responsibility not mine. Without that information you can't really make a completely informed decision. I use pro-football-reference and profootball focus.

Are you being serious right now? My responsibility? PFR doesn't go into depth with linemen stats, like I said, and doesnt have grades like PFF. And to look at grades in PFF, you need to pay.

"Without that information you can't really make a completely informed decision". Are you trolling? You're claiming to have information and "STATS" showing Doug Free to be almost as good as Tyron Smith. How are you making an informed decision when you have nothing to lean on?

I honestly cant believe you actually believe that Tyron in his prime was barely better than Doug Free. Even though Tyron was making all pro teams when Free was there.

Move on from Collins.

Make Tyron the RT. Jerry isn’t going to get rid of him. Tyron took a way below market deal to stay here and Jerry has helped him out a lot in his family life. Tyron has been good to the Cowboys.

On the other hand, we made Lael the highest (or 2nd highest) paid RT in football for some odd reason. He isn’t anything special.

That leaves a void at LT. Sign a free agent or draft one- whoever you get isn’t likely to be much worse than Tyron this year...

This is not a bad idea at all. I would def be on board. Martin can do it well. Can you imagine running behind him on the left side???

It's common logic to see that Tyron was miles above Doug Free when they played together. It's common sense. Tyron has the accolades, grades, awards, top 100 every year. How can you honestly believe that he was barely better than Free? I'm actually baffled.

The internet doctors were told not to worry about his back, he only needed rest cuz the team said so. Just like the internet doctors were told not to worry because Fred Beard only had a stinger.

We good, guys. Team has it under control.
