Tyron Smith

It's hard to judge the talents of the offense in general with is coach and scheme, let's change that first and let the new coach decide.

Without Callahan in our stable of coaches it will be nigh on impossible to build another great Dallas OL in the next 5 years.
Our lineman are falling off extremely fast and the replacements don't look capable of taking over. Dak better buy some
battery operated track shoes for the rest of this season. Pew! the cowboys stink.

A nagging injury after 1/4th the season? Too early to be classified as "nagging". He will decline every year as his cap hit rises.

That is complete garbage that Dak has had time like that. All you have to do is watch the games to know that. If Dak is running for his life that is counting as time to throw. No chance he has had the 3rd most time to throw then any QB. In the first half last week on like 20 drop backs he was sacked 3 times and pressured on 12 of 20 drop backs. Total and complete garbage.

I haven't missed a game in almost two decades. Dak has been under some pressure, but he's also had all the time in the world quite a bit. He holds the ball too long because he can't read a defense and carries himself into sacks constantly. The video evidence is out there. It's even posted in several threads on this forum. The offensive line has had its struggles, but 75% of the blame for the passing game lies with Dak and the coaches.

Remarkable how so many other QBs in the league don't need an elite offensive line in front of them to be productive isn't it?

He does hold the ball at times. Sometimes its because he cant read it and sometimes its because no one is open.

And yah, the video evidence is out there showing both scenarios.

LOL........and no its not 75% dak. The Oline has been bad. Coaching is horrid. Its pretty obvious stuff. Even as a rookie, when given plenty of time to throw, Dak was great. The line has been bad and his QB play right along with it. All you need is one holding call or one pressure or sack to screw up an entire drive. Its not only about time, its about penalties and pressure. Smith gives up a sack that ruins one drive, then Zeke drops a pass that ruins a first down, then Collins has a false start that puts us at 3rd and long.

The entire offense is screwing up all over the place. To blame mostly dak is just dumb. But I get it, biased fans that hate Dak is all they want to do is blame Dak.

Whatever, Im more liberal. I look at all the pieces sucking.

Go ahead and look across the NFL for real and you will see plenty of bad performances all over the place.

And so many other QB's arent in the beginning of their third year either. And it appears that Cowboys receivers are some of the worst in the NFL as a unit with the TE's. And we all know how horrid Garrett and the coaching is.

So really you arent comparing apples to apples here. So what does Dak have exactly to fall back on?

-Oline=No
-Pass catchers=no
-coaching=no
-Run game=Sometimes
-Experience=no

Better get used to it.

You really blaming the O-line more than the QB? Yeah, you're an apologist.

He has been pretty horrid this year. What's his deal? Is it:

1.) Nagging injuries?
2.) Complacency?
3.) Lack of motivation from the coaches?
4.) Declining skills?

He's healthy. 2 and 4.Guy is 27 years old.

I just hope he's not having disk issues. It's one thing for a golfer or quarterback but smith's position and type of play will just aggravate it constantly, imo.

Yawn......................this from Aikman basically mirrors my EXACT view on the offense:

“I think Dak certainly can play better,” Aikman said. “There have been opportunities for him in some games and he’s missed those opportunities. He’s talked about it. He has been pressing a little bit. The offensive line has not protected him as well as they have in previous years. There have been things down the field and the protection has not held up. And then at times receivers have had a hard time shaking one-on-one coverage. I think it’s a lot of things. I would not say hey if Dak was better they would be doing so much better. I don’t agree with that. I think it’s a collection of everything that is going on to where they have not been able to get on the same page.”

No, Tyron hasn't been "horrid".

That said Tyron Smith is paid handsomely by the Cowboys, to the tune of a $17.5m cap hit this season, to be the best of the best.
The cowboys paying him 17.5 is actually their fault for restructuring a few years back when they mismanaged the cap. The average value of his deal is 12 million a year which doesn't even make him top 5 highest paid at his position.

Tyrons original contract had pretty low guaranteed and the last 6 years of his deal (2018-2023) where actually suppose to be him basically playing on single year deals since none of it was suppose to be guaranteed.

Low guaranteed and last 6 years basically being singe year deals where the exact reason why his agent tried to talk him out of it. Cowboys ended up getting a good deal with Tyron, don't let the misleading 17.5 cap hit fool you (he's playing near the level of his deal)

Elite? This OL right now isn't even very functional.

Tyron Smith is fine. Garrett and Linehan is making him do these exotic blocking schemes. I think he's just rusty from not having played enough during preseason.

Zeke is ripping runs everywhere and Dak has the third highest average time before pressure in the league. Yeah, not very functional. Ok...

The eye test says differently. I'm not sure who is making that amount of time up but it's obviously wrong.
