Now that we've got Demarcus Lawrence, and assuming that he's starting at RDE (with Selvie and/or Spencer at LDE), do we try Crawford at the 1 tech position? I've heard that Crawford is capable of playing all spots on the DL, but not sure what he's best at honestly.

If Spencer can stay healthy (a big IF) and Crawford is able to develop nicely as a DT, we could be looking a lot better at DL compared to last year. Lots of if's though.

Hard to say. I'm not convinced that he has the speed on the outside nor the bulk to play inside. Definitely a bit of a tweener, but still have hope for him.

No. As of right now McClain and Hayden will share the #1 Tech spot.

Crawford would be misplaced as a #1.

Crawford will probably split #3 duties with Melton with some potential snaps as a right side defensive end.

Before the draft is over, I would still expect the Cowboys to draft another DT.

I've been wondering where Crawford will plY as well

Crawford was said to have a big wingspan and high motor if I remember correctly. Thought that would be more of a de trait than dt But I don't know as much as many on this board about the different d line positions and what traits are desired for the different spots.

I'm really skeptical that Spencer will play this year. They seem to really like Crawfords versatility. I'm expecting to see him get significant snaps at both #3 and at LDE. Who knows, he may get some snaps at #1 on passing downs.

Marinelli was just on local sports talk radio. He said Crawford was most likely a base LDE that would move to DT in the Nickel. He might also get some snaps at 3-tech in the base.

That's exactly what I think they do with him. Don't love our rotation, but at least we're starting to get some decent players on the line. Not counting on anything from Spencer, or even Josh Brent, but if either or both make it back sometime this year, I'll feel a little better yet.

Garrett said in the PC that he would play both but sounded like he would rush next to Melton on the inside.

we got to draft a 1-tech ,Hayden is just terrible.

Agreed that Hayden is not a quality 1-tech.

That's why they signed McClain to a multi-year contract.

Also keep in mind that a #1 tech DT is usually only going to be on the field for about 35-40 snaps a game. And as of this point McClain is going to get most of those.

If Spencer doesn't play, then I think you would see Crawford and Selvie take a lot of those snaps at RDE. But keep in mind that the draft, while over for the Cowboys tonight, isn't over period and I wouldn't be surprised to see them draft another DE.

I really hope that we can find a spot for Crawford. hopefully a seventh round pick can get rid of hayden. I just can not get rid of the image of greenbay just constantly pushing hayden out of every run play without any problem that lacey ran up the middle in that game.

Is McClain a clear-cut upgrade over Hayden? I don't know anything about McClain unfortunately, but I'm thinking that Marinelli could get anyone else to play better than Hayden.

Well considering that Hayden was out of the NFL (since 2011), and ended up being the 2nd worst DT per the PFF ratings, while McClain ended up around 0 for 180 snaps and has been in the NFL for the last 3 seasons, then yeah, a clear upgrade.

Does that mean the Cowboys shouldn't try upgrading the position? No. But as of right now they're better off starting McClain than they are Hayden.

I see Crawford as more of a SDE but he'll get snaps at times as the WDE. They swap ends at times anyway just to create confusion.

What's everyone's opinion of Wilber at SOLB, as I assume that's where he would fit best on the depth chart?

Have they said Crawford is playing DE? I don't see it. He has the body to gain weight and be a good inside player. Kinda big for a DE.
