Tyrone Crawford at 1 tech?

Have they said Crawford is playing DE? I don't see it. He has the body to gain weight and be a good inside player. Kinda big for a DE.

He played DE his first year some. And he played SDE. i saw him play against Atl that year at SDE and came away impressed with his strength. Obviously he can play the 3 as well although he's not as quick as Melton...was anyway. I just see him as a prototypical SDE. He has a bit of quick twitch but he'll never be a huge rush guy. Better bull rush than anything else.

What's everyone's opinion of Wilber at SOLB, as I assume that's where he would fit best on the depth chart?

I'm thinking they may want to give him another shot at WDE and start Holloman at SLB. Not having Ware changes the landscape. But it's just speculation.

Now that we've got Demarcus Lawrence, and assuming that he's starting at RDE (with Selvie and/or Spencer at LDE), do we try Crawford at the 1 tech position? I've heard that Crawford is capable of playing all spots on the DL, but not sure what he's best at honestly.

If Spencer can stay healthy (a big IF) and Crawford is able to develop nicely as a DT, we could be looking a lot better at DL compared to last year. Lots of if's though.

Spencer is not, right now, healthy and I don't expect him to. Crawford is best rushing upfield. I expect him to be used at both DE spots and rotating in to the 3 tech.

I don't think people understand how worthless Hayden was. The scheme asks for a guy that can demand double teams in the run game to keep the LB clean. He was always singleblocked and easily at that. The scheme also asks for a guy quick enough to run stunts and the like. He was so slow off the line as to be pitiful.

Hayden was flat terrible and hopefully we upgrade the roster so that he isn't even depth. He was like Lynn Scott or Keith Davis at safety. Just awful but at least those two helped on teams.

Totally agree. SDE is the need right now and the best fit for him, but with Marinelli's scheme he can rotate to different position to give the offense different looks on different downs.

I don't see any way he makes the final 53. His roster spot is easily upgraded. If all we did was improve the production from his spot to average it would be very noticeable.
