Who is the best band outta Ireland? Thin lizzy or U2?
Ive never understood how U2 got to be so huge im not saying they suck by any means but a lot of people are putting them up there with the greats which i think is:lmao2:

Thin Lizzy all the way

I basically can't stand U2, so you could have pit them against anyone and I would say they lose.

I like both, but U2 > Thin Lizzy for me. Anything off War or Joshua Tree will do just fine.
They have their own style...you know a U2 song when you hear it and Bono's voice is huge. I do think they're overated, but I think they're superior to Thin Lizzy.

Upside down with Bono!

Love this version of Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For
(This whole concert was amazing. If you haven't seen it yet, find it)

U2, no question. I am one who does think that they are one of the top bands ever. They changed music IMO. There are other bands I like better and I'm not crazy about their politics but I give them there due. I vote U2.

So that's why it sucks now a days?? Those *******s.
:D

Sorry, I just had to...

I would have thought the more comparable pairing would have been The Police or U2

Loved Thin Lizzy (for example, "The Cowboy Song"), but

U2 all the way.

This is a good one. Thin Lizzy was much more musically inclined and sound. U2 was/is horribly overrated, but they've been around for so long and have made so many songs that their resume is bigger. I always laugh when U2 goes on tour and when they come to town the entire world becomes the biggest U2 fans all of the sudden, even if they have never really owned an album or never listen to them.

I'll take Thin Lizzy because of that. U2 was more style over substance, which isn't always bad. But they do it in an annoying way.

I don't know about this. I think that if you listen to U2 now, that's probably more accurate then not but there early stuff, not so much I think. They had a lot of really good tunes about serious stuff. Granted it was based more on Ireland but it was pretty good I thought.

I agree. They were not style over substance early on by any means.
