Bye iPhone? Bye Apple?

This looks like it is going to allow phone manufacturers to blow iPhones out of the water

I have seen so many things that will blow apple and iphone/ipad out of the water...only for Apple Iphone/Ipad to continue to do well.

Now sooner or later it might happen...until then how about the apple hating guys stop proclaiming every new product coming out going to blow apple out of the water or cause the end of apple.

Apple makes a good product that many like. Apple has sold well for long enough that they have a solid foundation that not go away any time soon.

Lol, I'm not an Apple hater. I own an iMac used to own a Macbook and have had every single iPhone. I currently have the iPhone 5, although I'm probably going to be switching to the GS3. Nice try though. I've also never said something will blow Apple out of the water or end Apple before. This is literally the first time. Ubuntu for phones looks like it is much better and easier to use than iOS. That only leaves design left to compete with. That makes it a lot easier to compete and takes that added stress away from phone manufacturers.

It is way more than design. It is footprint, brand loyalty and years of successful advertisement to help achieve that status.

Most normal computer users and phone users have never heard of Unbuntu or ever messed with linux or unix.

Android is making the biggest dent and among android the GSIII seems to have made the biggest dent.

Windows has completely flopped in the phone market...although they flopped in the MP3 player and seem to have flopped with the current tabloid/laptop market they tried to enter.

New does not make better.

I think Iphone and android market are not going to be over taken by the ubuntu market.

If anything I think it will just further dilute the android market because the Apple market has such a strong history and footprint.

I doubt this new situation winds up being more than a small ripple in the water...at best.

Something tells me you didn't watch the video. Unbuntu works like iOS because it will allow all devices to seamlessly connect. The interconnectivity Unbuntu will offer is a pretty big deal. Doing that well is the future. In the video he states that Unbuntu will be avaliable for TV's and phones and is already available for Desktops, Laptops, and I believe Tablets. Was I being over the top when I said the "end of Apple," sure, but this will hurt iPhones and Apple. Apple is already on the decline. Just because I've been a huge fan of Apple and Steve Jobs doesn't mean I have to be blind.

Oh and by the way, Unbuntu works on Android devices. It will be available for your GS3. It will be a big ripple. Expect every Samsung product to come with it.

I like Ubuntu on the desktop. I'd imagine I'd like the phone too.

I don't see them making much of a dent in the phone market though. It's a two horse race and unless something is far and away better than those two, it's not going to make much difference. And I'm not sure I see something that's far and away better.

I don't think they will make a difference in the phone market. I think Samsung, Nokia and such will if they adopt the Ubuntu OS. Nokia has always made beautiful phones but their OS has sucked. Slap Ubuntu on there and it's a whole new beast. You get the same, maybe even better interconnectivity and ease of use as iOS.
