Man U after the first 10 minutes got dominated by Barca.
United were abysmal. Fergie got the tactics all wrong. How he can keep 50 million pounds worth of attacking talent on the bench (Berbatov and Tevez) is beyond me. That being said, Barca were sheer class.

That must make Tevez worth £49.9 million then ;)

Man Utd simply didn't turn up, Barcelona (first 10 mins apart) were much the better side and fully deserved to win.

Unlike last night the last time United played Barcelona (in last years Champions League Semi-Finals) they got the tactics right. Deny them time on the ball & frustrate them, Barcelona are similair to Arsenal in many ways in that they can only play one way.

I always get nervous when Ferguson messes around with his tactics/formations.

Ronaldo - greatest winger in the game; let's put him as a lone striker (a position he's gone on record as saying he doesn't really enjoy playing!

Rooney - reborn in his support striker role for England; of course he should be out on the wing (a position he's gone on record as saying he doesn't really enjoy playing!)

Ryan Giggs - legendary winger who's had a renaissance season playing center-mid; let's put him in the hole (a position in which he has no track record of success!)

Add to this the curious decision not to start one of Tevez and Berbatov and it's no surprise things turned out the way they did.

He did the same when they beat Bayern Munich.

United had the best two wide players in the World at that time (Giggs & Beckham), and because Roy Keane wasn't available he played Beckham in Centre Mid, Giggs on the right, and Jesper Blomqvist on the left.

They were lucky to be still in the game when he eventually changed the team around and Solskjaer & Sheringham got them out of the S**t.

Sometimes I think he tries to be too clever

As glorious as it was, they were lucky to beat Bayern. But at least Fergie could argue that the tactical switch was forced on him (losing Keane and Scholes at that time was huge, equal to Barca losing Iniesta and Xavi.)

Against Barca, however, he had a full complement of players (save Darren Fletcher, whose absence was keenly felt, but more than balanced out by Barca not having Dani Alves and Eric Abidal.) Yet he decided to play a formation that put 3 of his best players in positions that don't make optimal use of their talents.

80 million pounds for ronaldo? the world has gone mad!

Strangely enough Platini is very quiet on the subject now, unlike when Man City were trying to splash a fortune buying Kaka;)

in fairness he's not. he came out and condemned the fee as excessive. and the fact that madrid have just signed kaka for half the money man city offered for him would suggest he had a point regarding man citys bid.

platini is a clown, one minute big transfers are good for the game, and the next he pulls his holier-than-thou bull****.
