UFC: Silva Vs. Belfort

Great kick once they decided to actually fight. Nothing for a minute and a half.

Agreed 100%. That fight doesn't end that way 99 times out of 100. It just landed perfect this time. Have no clue what Belfort was looking at??

How many title defenses?, he's not the most snazzy around I'll admit but he has beaten some good fighters.

The fights I have seen are just boring and take forever to even get started.

He landed a lucky kick.

I am not saying he is not good. I just am not impressed with him as a fighter.

Edit...and I do not know how many title defenses if not for them saying 8 all night.

Well I'm not sure how you can be impressed with Machida and not Silva. Machida is similar as far as boring goes but isn't on the same level as Silva.

That kick is by no means a lucky kick. No way. He's known for his unorthodox strikes and counters. People who follow the sport and know him know that was not fluky. Actually the opposite. He even said he was practicing that kick for hours upon hours.

Yes it does. Do you follow Silva He's known for that. Belfort said Silva tricked him out. He faked a kick to the body and went to the face.

He's unbelievable.

Anderson Silva is a real life Ninja.

He does dance too much but how can anyone question his style?

It's going to take a bigtime wrestler to beat this guy.

Maybe because I see Machida throwing punches. I see this guy dance a lot and that one fight was an abortion. The last guy, Sonnen, or something like that kicked his rear end until one mistake.

Shogun took Machida out both times IMO, but I at least got to see the guy fight.

Silva is undoubtedly good, but I am not impressed. Guess what? I'm entitled to my opinion. I said the first time I saw him fight and I've said it every fight since. He just does not impress me.

Yup, follow Silva fairly closely and yes I know it's his style, but you don't see that kick land that often and KO the guy.

Heck, wasn't Joe Rogan saying the same and I'm pretty sure he follows the sport much closer than anyone in here...

No offense, and you're entitled to your opinion, but I don't wait around to watch the main event for a guy who truly doesn't impress me. Are you waiting for him to lose his title?

Maybe he interests you but doesn't impress, that may be more accurate. For the record, I don't see him as overly impressive either, in his style etc. But if Silva just wildly threw punches and was a bit more active with his hands people probably wouldn't be so bored by him.

It's like in football I guess, I want a guy who can get it done. Silva gets it done. He is the most accurate striker since I believe they said it was, UFC 28? Landing 68%. 68%!!! That's 7% more than the next best.

1 Anderson Silva 68.4%
2 Cheick Kongo 61.3%
3 Cain Velasquez 60.9%
4 Lyoto Machida 60.1%
5 Evan Tanner 59.0%
6 Randy Couture 58.7%
7 Georges St-Pierre 56.2%
8 Matt Hughes 55.2%
9 Mauricio Rua 54.8%
10 Caol Uno 54.6%

Im floored w/ Silva's fighting abiltiy but not his fights.

He could finish these dudes much quicker

Who wins with a fade away jab?

Answer: Anderson Silva

I can understand someone not being impressed with Silva because outside of the Chael Sonnen fight he makes winning in this sport look completely effortless.

Silva vs GSP is what everyone wants to see and it's an amazing matchup.

I would just have to take Silva.

Heck let Silva fight Jon Jones.

JJ reminds me of a risk taking Silva without the polish.

Did you say in your original post that, that was a fluky finish? Or a fluky kick? I don't remember.

If you did, you're wrong. And if you follow Silva, like you claim, you'd know that. He is known like I said for his unorthodox strikes and style. You don't see that kick land often because noone tries it. They'd be stupid to. I can tell you he had planned on using that kick. He said after the fight he practiced it intensively in training prior to the fight.

If the guy even put 40% effort in his fights he'd be literally unstoppable. Literally.

He is like a mix between Rampage, Silva, and Evans.

He has Rampages slams

Evans take downs.

And Silvas flashy style.

He's a unique fighter.

You know who else looks like a prodigy at 205?

Phil Davis

The fact that his striking accuracy is nearly 70% is all the evidence you'd need to provide to refute this "lucky/fluky" claim.
