Um, When Are We Getting Rid of Hamlin?

Questionable? Get some glasses. Muhammed pushed Jenkins back, practically bending him over enough to tie his shoe and then jumped up for the ball. It was an obvious call.

Hamlin, the guy has been terrible.

Doesn't excuse the guy going into a tackle, last man, trying to deliver a knockout blow, arms by his side, not even thinking about wrapping up Muhammad.

He was lucky to have that one called back.

A. It was one of the most obvious push offs I have ever seen, easy call.

B. Yes, Hamlin is pure garbage.

I think he's the worst regular player we have on the team.

Honestly I wish they'd start giving Watkins reps on defense again. At least in preseason it looked like he had range and would make a play on the ball. Maybe he isnt an everydown safety, but at least on passing downs. Although even Watkins tackled better in preseason than Hamlin does currently.

Db, your wrong man.

Since the media isn't ripping Hamlin, that means he isn't playing as bad as some fans think. Or at least that is what I am hearing .

Patrick Watkins played out of his mind in the pre-season finale and solidified his spot on the roster.

The questions with Watkins have surrounded recognition and tackling.

Too Tall couldn't be trusted to read his offensive keys and be in the correct position following the snap or to use proper form when attempting to bring down an opposing player.

Has Watkins progressed? Can he be trusted as a deep safety in the nickel and dime?

I'm thinking the safety play couldnt be worse than it is now, so I dont see a downside to at least giving him some meaningful snaps. If he sux he can go back to special teams again.

Hamlin is a waste of space. May as well just play with 10 defenders with the way he plays.

That's what I think -- maybe I'm wrong, maybe he has been decent in pass recognition overall. But after seeing him run right past a running back on a designed run blitz and that pitifully weak attempt at a tackle last week, there has GOT to be somebody on the roster or someone we can pick up.

I mean, the Giants were able to find a decent replacement for Kenny Phillips when he went down. And I would have to think that FS is a more valuable position than SS.

As I said, maybe the coaches are seeing something I'm not (probably his exorbitant salary) and he has been okay in pass coverage (sans the play on Muhammed), but when I see shyt like that, it makes me want to hide my head in shame.

Ken Hamlin, I'm embarrassed that you wear the star on your helmet.

He shoulda been cut after the Baltimore game.

They should restructure Hamlin's deal to a series of one year deals like they did with T.O.'s original contract. Hamlin played played good when his wallet depended on it.

That's funny, I DID miss this thread! Good reading -- hearing all the disgust and sheer hatred for Ken Hamlin was comforting in a way. LOL

Seriously, I can't believe his teammates haven't called him out yet and just beaten the living shyt out of him -- there are a lot of guys who are having to pick up his slack and I can't imagine they're too happy about it.

*IF* Dallas gets rid of him, it'll be at the end of the season. Like it or not, he is the best at his position on the current roster.

You can't bench him because who's behind him? If they were worth anything, they'd be starting and he'd be on the bench.

Holy schmolies, I knew he has been playing bad and he has been at the very top of my "OVERRATED PLAYERS" list for some time now...

...and that was before I saw that pathetic attempt of a tackle on Mushin Muhammed's touchdown catch. Fortunately, it was called back on a very questionable push off penalty.

Did you guys see that *****' attempt? This guy is an NFL defensive back?!?!?

Hamlin has been bad and a disappointment so I totally agree with you there.

The questionable call thing though is silly. THere was nothing questionable about it. It was a very clear push and he did so cause he'd never have made the play without it. Even if he'd managed to make the catch he isn't going anywhere beyond there most likely. It completely made it possible for him to catch a TD pass.

But Hamlin's effort, as it has been most of the time lately, was poor.

But my point is that you simply cannot rely on an over-the-hill referee to make that call. I've seen far more blatant non-calls than that one would have been. Deion Sanders' hack of Michael Irvin in the 1994 NFC Championship game comes to mind. Or Cutler's "non-fumble" against the Chargers last year

If a ref can miss those, a ref can miss anything. Again, you can't rely on the refs to always make the right call. You can only control what you do as a player, and in that regard, Hamlin has utterly failed.

I went back and rewatched the whole game last night. Wow, was Hamlin poor. I mean this guy completely lost his game. He looks like RW31 out there, minus at least the big hits.

Newmans tackling was atrocious too. I don't know whats going on with our secondary, but they need to get thier act together quickly.

I would agree that Newman has made some weak attempts, but overall, I see him putting forth real effort. When I watch Hamlin play, it just fills me with rage. LOL

Nah, I don't buy it -- his secondaries were rock-solid back in the 90s. Blame the players, not the coach. He seems to put them in good position to make plays, but they just don't.
