Gabbart declaring is good news as he's likely to go top ten. Combined with Luck, Locker, Mallett and Newton, you could very well see some other prospects getting pushed down to us.

If nothing else, there's going to be some very solid CB prospects awaiting us in the second round.

January 5
(8:30 PM): Big Owl DT goes pro … Temple junior DT Muhammad Wilkerson has announced he will leave school a year early and enter the 2011 draft. And while not many people outside the program are that familiar with Wilkerson, the 6-5, 305-pounder who had 9.5 sacks this past season, is a legitimate early second day prospects and could even sneak into the latter part of the opening round if he shows well at the combine. Currently, though, Wilkerson is thought to only run in the 5.10-5.15 range for the 40.

(7:30 PM): One top prospect in (maybe); one out ... There are media reports this evening that Alabama head coach Nick Saban told Barry Sanders Jr., a top high school recruiting prospect, that junior RB Mark Ingram will be leaving school and entering the 2011 draft where he is expected to be one of, if not the top back chosen this coming April. Meanwhile, Oklahoma junior OLB Travis Lewis has reportedly opted to stay in school for the upcoming season rather than turn pro this winter.

(5:30 PM): Top DE enters draft ... Clemson junior DE Da'Quan Bowers has announced he will be entering the 2011 draft where he is expected to be one of the top 5-10 players selected after he posted a nation-high 15.5 sacks this past season.
(11:30 AM): Little-known Cavs DE to enter draft… Virginia junior DE Zane Parr has announced that he will be leaving school to enter the 2011 draft. At 6-5, 275, Parr has good size, but had just 2 sacks in 2010 and is not considered to be more than a marginal prospect for this April’s draft. (10:00 AM): Draft finally scheduled ...

It took way longer than in the past, but the NFL is reporting that the 2011 draft will take place from April 28-30. The draft will again kick off in primetime for the second consecutive year with the first round to be held on Thursday, April 28. The second and third rounds are set for Friday, April 29, while rounds 4-7 will be held on Saturday, April 30. There had been some doubt that the draft could even be held once the CBA expired on March 1st, however, according to media reports the 2011 draft was somehow 'protected' from anti-trust legislation for a year.

(9:00 AM): GBN Radio show back on... We can say with almost certainty that the on-again, off-again GBN Draft Radio Show on Blog Talk Radio will be back in its regular 9:30 PM ET time slot this evening as the techical difficulties that have plagued the show the past few weeks appear to be under control. Join GBN editor Colin Lindsay and hosts Eric Lamb and John McDevitt tonight on Side Kick Pro to talk about the latest on the bowls, the latest on underclassmen declaring for the draft and the latest on who's hot and who's not in the 2011 draft class.

(12:01 AM): Irish TE jumps to top of TE board ... Notre Dame junior TE Kyle Rudolph, who is projected to be the first player at the position off the board despite missing most of the season after undergoing hamstring surgery, reportedly will skip his senior season and enter the 2011 draft. Rudolph, who missed the last 7 games of the 2010 season with the hamstring injury, also suffered a severely separated shoulder the previous year that required offseason surgery. If healthy, Rudolph figured to be a legitimate first-round talent but likely will slip to the second round because of the health concerns.

Come on down !!! …. In a somewhat unprecedented move Carolina has let Stanford sophomore QB Andrew Luck know that they will definitely take him if he opts to enter the 2011 draft at which the Panthers have the #1 pick overall. The team with the #1 overall pick, of course, is free to negotiate with, and sign the player they intend to select prior to the draft, but this is the first time we can recall the team with the top pick sending out such a message to a still undeclared underclassmen. Luck, though, cemented his status as the top player in this year’s draft class with a sterling performance in the Orange Bowl earlier in the week. Luck has until January 15th to apply to the league for admission to this year’s draft, but to date hasn’t given many hints as to which way he’s leaning. Surprisingly, though, Carolina has indicated they have no interest in trying to hire Luck's Stanford head coach Jim Harbaugh to replace John Fox.

Update January 4th: One Stanford Underclassman making the jump….another PAC 10 star staying…update on JJ Watt….
- Sources have told us JJ Watt received a second round grade from the advisory committee. As of today most close to the situation expect him to declare for the draft. We presently rank the Badger defensive end as a top 15 choice in April.

- Word tonight is most in the “know” expect Virginia Tech running back Ryan Williams will enter the draft, something of a common theme since October.

- While the football world awaits the decision of Andrew Luck sources have told us one of his underclassmen teammates has let it be known he will enter the draft. Stanford DE/OLB Tom Keiser will enter the draft, something that he’s been considering since October. Keiser is a bit of a ‘tweener we presently rate as a later round selection.-

Yet another source we spoke with this evening thinks tonight will be the final college game for Mike Brewster and the Buckeye center will enter the draft.

- Miami Hurricane cornerback Brandon Harris made official something we brought to the attention of readers back in August; he’s entering the draft. We understand Harris delayed his decision a few days after his poor performance against Michael Floyd of Notre Dame in last week’s Sun Bowl.

- Akeem Ayers officially acknowledged the worst kept secret in the draft world; he will enter the draft. As we tweeted today and initially reported on 12/24, Ayers has been seen driving around town in a brand new Mercedes recently.

- Marshall sackmaster Vinny Curry is exploring his draft options and receiving opinions on where he’ll be selected.

- We are again hearing chatter that Eastern Washington running back Taiwan Jones will enter the draft. Jones, who has struggled with injury at different times this season, is expected to play in the IAA title game on January 7th when EWU takes on Delaware.

I added them last night. Already on the list.

Brain informed me that Robert Sands declared so you can add him to the list, I guess he got close enough to whatever round he wanted to hear

Can't find it.

I changed the list to by position so it is easier to see if someone has been missed.

Cobb sets sail from Kentucky for NFL

Posted by John Taylor on January 13, 2011, 3:05 PM EST

It’s been somewhat expected that Randall Cobb would take his leave of Kentucky following the conclusion of the 2010 season.

Unfortunately for the Wildcats, that is indeed the case.

The all-everything junior announced Thursday afternoon that he’s giving up his senior season of eligibility to enter the 2011 NFL draft.

Yep. I hope we consider this kid. One of the better, more underrated players in the draft. Truly a jack of all trades.

Deadline is tomorrow. 51 underclassmen so far. I still think Andrew Luck is making a mistake, but it is a mistake I respect.
