Underrated actors/actresses

Something about Gary Oldman that I always liked. He can look so different in so many roles but always pulls it off although he may look different in the roles he normally plays a guy that is kind of crazy.

However I am not sure that he is considered under rated so I don't know if he fits.

well, i'm watching life on mars, the final show tonight. again. love that show and he did an amazing job in it.

he was amazing in finding graceland.

bill paxton
scott glenn
rob schneider

mel gibson or sean connery?

mel can act.

sean was a character.

I wouldn't say underrated so much as under the radar but kristen ritter is pretty great

Gary Sinise steals every movie he is in.

Brian Dennehy does too.

I also find myself really drawn to Edward James Olmos. I've always wondered why he wasn't more acclaimed.

Edward Norton pulls off some great characters.

For actresses, I think Whoopi Goldberg never does a bad role. Her character in Ghost stole the movie.

I love almost anything that Diane Lane is in and I think she is very underrated in a lot of ways.

A favorite of mine is Sally Field. At one time she was very acclaimed with some powerful roles as Sybil and Norma Rae, but then a lot of smaller roles that I think she was every bit as good in.

With u on all but Paxton, cannot stand his acting. Only thing I liked him in was as chet in weird science. Do like Scott Glenn quite a bit.

Easily one of my favorite actors.

Steve Buscemi

Peter Dinklage is doing one hell of a good job as Tyrion

people have already mentioned some other favs of mine

Gary Oldman
Bill Paxton
Timothy Olyphant

Seann William Scott always makes me laugh.

Louis CK is a comedian, but he's a pretty underrated actor if you've ever watched his show.

Eward Norton is one of the best actors out there and I rarely see him get his due credit. His characters in "Primal Fear", "Fight Club" and "American History X" are some of the best in cinema history IMO.

Timothy Olyphant is another guy I really like. "Justified" is a great show and he's had several good cinematic showings.

Bryan Cranston, solely for playing the best television character in history.

I love him, but the guy has won like four straight Emmy's for best actor. I don't think you can call him underrated.

That was who first came to mind for me. Fargo is such a good film.

Ed Harris

These two are the ones I thought of before I even clicked on this thread.

Sinise nails it every time and Ed Harris is able to make me love the guy or hate him depending on his character.

I would love to see a movie with those two and Jon Voight as well. All three great actors that don't get the recognition they deserve for their craft.
