Underrated and Overrated Prospects

I need to watch him myself. I hope he is great because it looks like we won't be able to choose Ingram without a trade up:(

I avoid Big 10 football as much as possible but this kid has an awesome name!

I think Ingram is going to move north after the combine. He is projected as a 4.8 forty. He runs sub 4.7 is my guess. His game tape over a two year period is going to be very impressive. He is scheme diverse, position diverse, high effort, high performance in the toughest most competitive conference in football. Not a lot to dislike about this guy. Having watched he and Upshaw, the explosion of Ingram is telling. Upshaw as a pass rusher is no where near Ingram.

From what I've read, there is a lot to like about Mercilus. He has the size, and from what I've read, he has a non-stop motor which I love. He has some JPP traits. Both had one year of performance, both Haitian and both left school early to help their parents. I'm not sure Mercilus is the freak that JPP is, but he does fit the Giants profile for a Def Lineman to the tee. JPP, Osi, Tuck, Kiwanuka all have those long limbs, quick feet, non-stop motors.

Keep me posted on your research with this kid.

I was messing around with the ESPN Scouts, Inc. grades and noticed their football traits. They have positional traits that they take into account, and then overall football traits (production, height/weight/speed, durability, intangibles). I took the average of their intangibles, as well as the positional specific traits to see how they related to their actual ranks. Here's what I came up with.

Top 10 Underrated
  1. Chase Minnifield - Rank: 49, Traits: 12
  2. Cordy Glenn - Rank: 38, Traits: 2
  3. Kelechi Osemele - Rank: 44, Traits: 18
  4. Orson Charles - Rank: 48, Traits: 24
  5. Levy Adcock - Rank: 45, Traits: 23
  6. Dontari Poe - Rank: 43, Traits: 22
  7. Zebrie Sanders - Rank: 30, Traits: 11
  8. Janoris Jenkins - Rank: 35, Traits: 17
  9. Lavonte Davd - Rank: 50, Traits: 32
  10. Alshon Jeffery - Rank: 23, Traits: 6
Top 10 Overrated

1. Dre Kirkpatrick - Rank: 9, Traits: 41
2. Mark Barron - Rank: 14, Traits: 42
3. Melvin Ingram - Rank: 17, Traits: 43
4. Michael Floyd - Rank: 18, Traits: 44
5. Devon Still - Rank: 21, Traits: 46
6. Morris Claiborne - Rank: 6, Traits: 26
7. Alfonzo Dennard - Rank: 25, Traits: 45
8. Andre Branch - Rank: 13, Traits: 27
9. Ryan Tannehill - Rank: 20, Traits: 33
10. Nick Foles - Rank: 22, Traits: 34

Just something I thought I'd share. A lot of the stuff that I do like this ends up being a waste of time, but just wanted to see if ya'll agreed/disagreed with some of these names.

Ingram looked really good during this week's practce. Dennard, not so much.

I'm curious to see how the perform come Saturday.

Glenn & Osemele looked good as well.

No it doesn't. He played in a run heavy SEC and played a lot inside at DT.
SCar went 6-2 in the SEC. His junior sacks were distributed more evenly. And his Senior Bowl practices indicate if just told go get the QB he can do so.

There were similar questions about Ware coming out IIRC.... 27.5 career sacks but in the Sunbelt conference.

Ingram has 19.5 sacks in the past 2 seasons playing in the top conference in collegiate football and playing multiple positions.

I also believe he is a perfect fit as an OLB and that playing him in a 4-3 (much less at DT) reduces his effectiveness. But if you are SCar and facing Alabama and LSU type offenses that play straight-ahead you have to stop the run.

I agree with you from everything I've seen this week. Let's see how Saturday's game goes.

I went through all the available players today and here's the top ten that I have for both over and underrated.... A lot of late round guys are there, so I'm going to keep it to the Top 3 Rounds prospects
