Underrated Players

Danny White was a great QB who inherited an old team.

Chuck Howley was the best LB in team history by a good margin.

Brock Marion never got credit and should have been re-signed.

Flozell Adams was a good lineman on a lot of terrible offensive lines.

Cornell Green...google him and he should easily be in the Cowboys Ring of Honor as he had a more impacting Cowboys career than Darren Woodson as defensive back. Green never missed a game in 13 seasons, he played 168 games, including 145 consecutive starts for the Cowboys (19621974). He made five Pro Bowls at two different positions — cornerback and strong safety. He is sixth in career interceptions (34) in Cowboys history. He retired as a player in September 1975, and went from part-time to full-time scout for the Cowboys. He scouted his replacements Charlie Waters and Cliff Harris. Green began scouting for the Dallas Cowboys in 1970 while still an active player and continued scouting through 1979. He spent 35 years scouting in the NFL, and 28 seasons doing it with the Broncos Super Bowl teams until 2015. In 2010, he received the AFC Scout of the Year Award from the Fritz Pollard Alliance

Everson Walls...11 interceptions as a rookie on a Cowboys team that went to the NFC Championship games. He led the league in interceptions from the CB position 3 times the most of any CB and only tied with Ed Reed, a safety, all time season leader in interceptions.

Bob Breunig...Was the final MLB triplet of Jerry Tubbs, and Lee Roy Jordan from 1960-1984 to own the MLB position with the Dallas Cowboys. Still holds the Cowboys single season tackler record of 167 stops. He ended his career as the franchise's second-leading tackler (behind Jordan) with 1,016 stops, having played in ten seasons, appearing in 20 playoff games, six NFC championships and three Super Bowls. He was a four-time team captain, a three-time Pro Bowler, a second-team All-Pro and a four-time All-NFC selection.

Was watching a lot of Cowboys stuff today and not cause I’m a fan but I think the Cowboys have a lot of players who just don’t get the respect they deserve even from fans.

Bob Hays when people talk about all time great WRs hardly ever mentioned. You put that man in a modern offense and people would go Jerry who? Amazing player shame he doesn’t get more credit

Moose this guy was great at opening holes for Smith. Watching this guy just smash LBs letting Smith break free is amazing. I don’t think Smith is near as good without him. Should at least be in ROH.

Harvey Martin this guy was a QBs nightmare but when people talk pass rushers crickets. He was our sack leader for a long time if not mistaken and I think part of his career sacks weren’t a stat. Should be in ROH and HOF
Lee Roy Jordan this guy was a great LB true monster in the middle of the field. At least he is in the ROH and maybe if they expand the HOF class he can make it in way over due.

Who are some players you don’t think we as Cowboy fans don’t even give enough credit? Guys who you think belong in ROH or HOF. Just out of curiosity does anyone know who on the Dallas media is on the HOF voters and who presents and makes a case for our older players?
Tony Liscio, Robert Newhouse, Danny White, Preston Pearson...

Cornell Green was impressive - reminds me of Landry's DB days as a player.

Jeffcoat. Great football player, period.

Cosbie. Incredible hands and a predecessor to the Novacek/Jimmy Graham style TE's of today.

Barber III. This guy set the league on fire and was Beast Mode before Marshawn Lynch. Problem was he flamed out super quick from his lack of any self preservation.

Dat Nguyen- game-y, relentless LB'er

2nd level underrated (Others)

Kevin Williams
Chris Boniol
Mike Saxon
Patrick Jeffers

Patrick Jeffers? I don’t recall him doing much.

I was surprised to find out that former Cowboys S Charlie Waters is tied with Ronnie Lott and Ed Reed for NFL all time interceptions in the playoffs with 9!

The underrated Dennis Thurman is second all time in Cowboys playoff history with 7 playoff interceptions.

Ralph Neely was the first great OT we had.

George Andrie and Willie Townes were two of our first great pass rushers. Andrie scored a TD in the famous Ice Bowl game in ‘67.

Larry Cole was an underrated DL that played for 12 years in Dallas. He made the key defensive play on John Riggins in that great ‘79 comeback win against the skins to win the division.
