Undisputed: Will the Cowboys have excuses not to make a deep playoff run?

With Jerry running things he is the perpetual excuse that transcends time.

He is the only constant that keeps us wallowing in the mud puddle of mediocrity always a couple puzzle pieces away from really competing in the tournament.

One playoff win and out is our ceiling adjust your expectations and just live with it no excuses necessary it just is what it is and that is just as good as it gets with Jerry running the show.

We can’t ever base our expectations on Jethro’s hype.

This thread quoting a known Cowboys troll is just another attempt to set the Cowboys up for ridicule if they don’t go deep in the playoffs which most sound analysts and Cowboy fans know isn’t likely .

I know man, I responded to another guy that it's almost as Steele is a fluke now regarding Philbin and his developmental skills because in my eyes the whole OL looked poorly coached down the stretch last season. Philbin might be another Nolan.

They didn't make a run last year. This year, they have a first place schedule and more question marks on offense.

I'm not expecting a playoff run. I'm not even sure they're a playoff team.

We might not be if we weren't in the East. There’s certainly no other division we’d be picked to win. We are probably at best a 5th- 7th best team in NFC. And that’s assuming no one else has upgraded their talent more like Minn, Chi, NO, Wash, etc.

Put it this way.
They can't beat 3 to 4 consecutive playoff level defenses, coaching staffs and QBs even while fully healthy.
This would require a year where the GM, HC and QB1 were able to out perform all their other playoff team peers at those positions.

Highly unlikely is probably an understatement.

They will continue to entertain though.

Funny thing Jake you will hear how we overvalue our players but in the next thread hear how they underperformed Then in other threads you will hear how some players have had "A great supporting cast" arround them and just cant get it done...then back to the thread about how the FO over values our talent...its a long winding road here in the zone.

"We like our guys" has several diferent meanings depending on who the thread is about....

excuses? I think there is a lot of emotionalism and negative fanaticism, that the Cowboys have a lot of talented players, sure, but if we compare it to teams like Philly and San Diego, only these two teams are far superior in terms of talent.

You have to be realistic and not want to see something that is not, Dallas does not have enough to be a contender. if we look at just one stat from preseason games we see the same problem Dallas ended up with last season; in 3 games Dallas had 35 penalties, for a loss of 296 yards!!!. this is a problem of poor training, coupled with the terrible management of the roster, of the Jones.

Taking the eagles and chargers as an example, these teams are armed to the teeth, you can see that they want to win, and despite having good players they arm themselves with more by making the right moves in the draft, via trade, and free agency .

Possibly Dallas is 3 moves away from much better and be a contenders, one, change the HC, second, select the best OL and CB in the next draft, and third get rid of overpaid players. Dallas this season will only be one of the bunch, they will give good games due to the defensive talent that they has, but nothing more.
