Uniforms

I never understood the deal with the white throwback helmets. Were they somehow not up to safety standards? If not, why couldn't they be made up to par?

You have to wear the same helmet all season that's the reason we can't wear the white helmets on Thanksgiving. So either we wear the white helmets all year, or the silver helmets all year.

They also had to change facemasks out. Those they wore today were blue and their normal facemasks are green.

That makes sense. Basically the NFL is worried that if a player who uses an obsolete model helmet during the season is forced to switch to a different model (due to lack of supply) during the throwback week and his hurt will then come back and say he was forced to use a helmet he didnt choose and could sue the NFL.

Basically just a CYA move by the NFL and with all the people lining up to sue them I cant really blame them.

I think they are. Why else would they switch from the typical dark helmets they wear with the throwbacks. Same goes for the steelers with their prison unis. Used to be yellow helmets, but this year they were the normal black ones.

Besides, not every player has the same style of helmet.

It's just a PR move for the NFL to look like they took precautions to prevent concussions.

It's especially stupid when you consider that certain other helmets are supposed to be immediately replaced after any sort of significant impact. What is it that they say about playing football? "It's like being in a car wreck, over and over again?"

Litigation, baby.
