People always say that but I haven't seen one innovation or any big successes since he got here.

Bailey and CJones are good kickers but that is their talent, not coaching.

By the same token, some of the mediocre ST play is a result of talent, not coaching...works both ways.

Coaches preach all 3 phases but I think they all would gladly accept being average and just not ever doing anything good or bad on special teams other than average long punts, make their field goals, and not give up big plays.

Please tell us how you innovate on special teams.

Its not up to me to improve the STs. What makes him some great coach if nothing can be changed?

If everything is the same and we are worse than others then its the players or the coach that picks the players.

Please enlighten me about the qualities and results that make Bisaccia so great

I'm just wondering what this "innovation" is.

I think special teams coaches are the most overrated in football.

Our coach taught us three things - hustle, stay in your lane, make the tackle. Ain't hard.

Innovation is finding a better way to do things. A great coach is usually innovative or creative.

A different formation on Punts or Punt Returns or different blocking schemes to get better results.

You could put a QB as the up back on all Punts. someone like Tebow. The other team would have to prepare for a fake on every punt. You could 3 guys back on Punt Returns to eliminate all the blocks in the back and holding penalties. Something.

I always hear how great a coach he is and I have never seen any evidence. Everything is vanilla, cookie cutter, mediocre STs.

My best coaches treated STs as equal 1/3s of the game.

We used all the best athletes, not just the scrubs and practiced them just as much as Offense and Defense.

The results were noticeable and won us a few extra games.

I'm from the 843 myself, moved out to Texas 2 years ago.

They need a good recruiter with some hustle in him. Dabo has been killing Spurrier at that for a while now.

Charlie Strong might do well back in his old stomping grounds.

Cool I grew up in San Antonio and moved to Myrtle Beach right before I started high school. It'll be interesting to see who they find to replace Spurrier. HBC won't be easy to replace.

Same. But they preached the "Big 3" - hustle, stay in your lane, and make the tackle. There's a reason people don't switch up or "innovate" special teams.

I'm not saying innovation is a requirement to be successful. If you are fundamentally sound and get great results that is fine.

But I don't see any of that from Bisaccia's squads. I sincerely don't know why he is considered a ST guru.

No one else seems to have any concrete answers.
