We spend our high first round pick on a QB, the rest on defense and begin our return to greatness.

Romo is broken and will not even come close to lasting the whole season. He even admits he will never be the same. Something is definitely wrong and we are going to be caught with our pants down with no QB for the future and that god awful contract that kicks in this year that makes no team even want to touch him.

Defense will be as bad as last year. Maybe slightly worse with Lee already out and a whole bunch of unproven spares on the DL. Our 2nd round pick we got already is hurt and behind schedule. He will be useless this year. This is why they are so desperate to sign Brent if he's cleared. We were down to 3 secondary guys today. That one of the coaches had to take snaps.

This could be a really bad team this year.

Don't worry be happy.

They go 19-0 winning the SB. They win every game by an average of 12 points.
However...
The haters don't even struggle to find something to whine about.....
but here may be a few...

But they can't repeat
Jerry the GM sucks
Garrett can't coach
Romo is done, he still has a bad back to worry about
They only had a margin of victory by 12 points
The defense finished #22, it didn't improve by much, they still suck
etc...

Cowboys are in a downward trend, not upwards. Post Tony years (whether 2,3 or 4 years from now) will really be depressing as we look for that next really good QB.

Luckily, I see the Giants and Commanders both in similar stages in building/rebuild. Giants have two super bowls to help with the expected bumps in the road though. I think the Eagles are best positioned. I thought with a great offseason the Eagles would run away from the rest of the teams for the next few years. Luckily they didn't appear to have that offseason.

The team will win the NFC East, win a playoff game, and be in the discussion of making the NFC Championship game.

That was not the unpopular opinion.

Consequently, criticism (which has been repeated ad nauseam for years and understood by practically everyone for just as long) will decrease significantly. Media pundits will do a 170 (not really a 180 since quips about the Cowboys generate viewers and clicks). NFL Network and ESPN crews will push other contending teams to the curb and air more what if segments primarily about Dallas. And critics on websites like Cowboyszone will post less, stop posting altogether, or gradually begin posting comments atypical of previous posts made weeks, months, and sometimes years after becoming a member.

That was the unpopular opinion.

defense will statistically be worse than last year as far as yards allowed and points allowed, but turnovers go up. there is simply no competent D-line play whatsoever and therefore teams run and pass at will.

Romo, as tough as he is, only lasts 5 games into the season due to his back. Some fans see this as a blessing in disguise due to the fact that Romo has not been able to get the ball more than 20+ yards down the field, but their world comes quickly crashing down once they witness the ineptitude of Weeden

mid-season sitting at 3-5 i think the wheels really start to come off and Jerry is faced with some difficult decisions heading into next season

I'm a contrarian by nature so here it goes:
  1. Tony Romo's best days are behind him and he has begun a steep decline
  2. Tony Romo's back problems with manifest themselves all season and will result in Romo's worst QB rating of his career and another non-winning season for the Cowboys
  3. Spencer never really makes it back
  4. This year is basically a lost year for Dlaw when he returns from injury and he will have very little impact on the defense
  5. Tyrone Crawford is roughly the same player we saw his rookie year -- ie another non-impact player
  6. Claiborne has a season like last year -- oft injured
  7. JJ Wilcox never acquires to ball skills he needs to become an adequate starting safety
  8. Dez Bryant continues to struggle against double teams and never gets better than he was last year (which was still very good)
  9. Dez Bryant's back issues continue to dog him and prevent him from claiming the #2 WR spot in the NFL behind Megatron
  10. Murray hurts himself early in the season and is ineffective the reason of the season
  11. The offensive playcalling of JG/Linehan/Callhan is a confused mess

People who don't know the difference between an opinion and a prediction are kind of thick.

(See, that was an opinion)

I think the defense will be better if they avoid massive injuires to a single unit.

Based on that, it's my OPINION the Cowboys will finish 10-6 and win a playoff round.

The Cowboys realize that Morris Claiborne is a pretender and release his butt at the final cut.

he is a weak pretender already but no use cutting him, just let him play out his rookie contract like we did with Jenkins.this should be a lesson for us not drafting weak CBs who cant tackle or wont tackle but we keep making the same mistake.

I saw in the practice tweets that Spencer was working on the bands. I think he will make it back sooner then people think and will make quality contributions to the DL.

10-6, haters feel free to hate

Not hating.

Just looking at the last 3 year trends and from off season, to the draft, now into training camp things are looking/sounding just like they typically do:

- We boast about our 1st round pick and other than Claiborne they have been good ones recently, so I will take that.

- We trade a 2nd or 3rd to move up into the 1st or 2nd.

- Sean Lee is hurt.

- Typical questions at safety positions.

- Typical questions on at least 1 side of the line.

- We have a good percentage of our team cap in dead money for players no longer here but playing key roles on other teams.

- Another key coordinator change whether it be defense or offense.

- Garrett yapping about the process.

- Jerry acknowledging that this years record does not come into play regarding Red's continuation of being this teams HC.

- The talk of a new contract or extension even though there has been absolutely no playoff births and 3 burn outs in the past 3 years to get in.

- The yearly talk of Romo having some health complication.

- Some gossip about the Jones family, including their typical unnecessary coach speak involvement with the media. So far Jerry's promoting the Dez/Wilcox exchange like some WWE spectacle and now he's caught yet again drunk in pics, but to my joy at least with some decent looking young females.

Looks like 8-8 to me. If we actually do try to run the ball and keep possession so this defense can get burned for quick scores and at times take the ball away like I anticipate it playing.

Otherwise 7-9, 6-10.

I so hope.

Hope if he does get back he can hold up for the whole season too.

Past 2 seasons he has not been able too and coming off this surgery doesn't suggest any better chances of that.
