Watt and Suh.

Those are clearly the most dominant defensive players in the NFL.

Get him.

And yet they seem willing to do it, I think all the suh talk is a pipe dream for some, myself I would not break the bank and that is what it would take to bring him to Dallas.

Yes, the probability of him being in Dallas is very low; however, my point is that Detroit's GM is probably just blowing smoke when he say they might franchise him because it's almost impossible for them to fit that under their cap and field a complete team.

at all cost?

No, but I think he'd come here if you offered a big contract. In the big arena, the star carries great weight, especially now that the Cowboys look like a Super Bowl contender with a revamped defensive line and pass rush.

1st off he is interested in the money not the Cowboys, not everyone loves the Cowboys or even takes that into consideration. hell Ware could have stayed in Dallas he choose to leave and he liked being in Dallas. This is purely about money

Det seems to be willing to use the franchise tag if they can't reach a deal. Nick Fairley will be the odd man out, given his injuries I doubt he would command any big offers. If he checked out physically I would not mind picking him up

I was referring to the woes of the city but anyway.

Det will restructure I don't why you think det can't but everyone else can/. Dallas sure as hell can't do it, what he is asking for is well beyond what Dallas can afford, we don't want to spend money on our own yet will break the bank for him? Det wants him that is a big 1st start, he is a priority and while it is a risk move by Det I think the odds of him remaining in Det are a lot greater than you seem to think

I don't think you should take the position of, at all costs. That's not good business and that's how we've managed to get ourselves in trouble in the past. However, we don't really know what the cost is at this point. We can guess but lots of things come into play, including what the market will drive in terms of salary.

I have said for months that I could definitely see Jerry even trading for Suh and sending them a 2nd round pick, and I support it.

There is no man on the planet who can make as large an impact on this defense as Suh can. Add him, a year for these youngins to improve, a defense-heavy draft, the return of Sean Lee, and another offseason for Marinelli to tweak his system, and we can have a top 10 defense next year in every statistical measurement.

we know Det seems to be willing to pay a franchise tag of 26 mill if push comes to shove and are currently working on getting a deal with him. Dez is a FA yet we all know he is not going anywhere Dallas will franchise if they have to. Based on what Det is saying they will franchise if they have to.

I don't think we know that. I think they have said some things that may not be realistic, including the possibility of franchising Suh. I honestly don't see how they can do that and still keep lots of key guys. I mean, it's possible but I don't really think that's realistic for them.

The situation with Detroit and their cap is different then our situation IMO. They are committed contractually to certain things. Unless players are willing to restructure, they can't do much with a Franchise Tag. We are in negotiations with Dez so we are not committed to any one particular direction or any cash in any given year, above and beyond what we have with players currently under contract. We have more freedom IMO.

It's a big enough leap to warrant the contract expense for Suh, but trading a 2nd round pick for a player not under contract is simply terrible management of resources.

I don't trade the pick unless we can get a deal in place with Suh before pulling the trigger

No draft pick is necessary to bring Suh here, just a lot of money. If Detroit signs him, they aren't trading him for a second round pick.

Det cap situation is better than ours. As the GM in Det said they would rather work out a deal than to use a FT then again Jerry has said the same thing with Dez. We will see how this play out.

Why do you say that their cap situation is better then ours? I honestly don't know if they do or not because I don't know who they currently have under contract.

Free agants-Mike Vanderjagt, Marco Rivera, Eddie George. Even TO because of his personality.

Trades-Roy Williams, Joey Galloway, trading away Steven Jackson, Mo Claiborne

What free agent flops and dumb trades? Jerry never made a move for an all-pro OL or DL. He made trades for guys like Roy Williams.

If we get Suh I would wet myself. I don't see it happening, but our defense is instantly 15 ranks better with him.
