Unreliable Rumor: Huge offer for Suh coming from Cowboys

No. It was the one where TWill slid in front of Dez on the TD pass. If you watch the replay from behind Romo, Suh is mirroring Romo's moves but not rushing. He never engaged a lineman.

Oh.

Was he fearing that Romo would juke him?

Or did he take off the play.

Or was he "trying" to mirror him?

Nothing thrills me more than having an overrated defensive tackle with issues on third two, needing a touchdown to win the game and the Cowboys grinder running back is wearing a uniform of another team, and all we have are small fast guys who can't get that extra yard.

Having a grinder at RB does not matter if Cowboys prefer to PASS in short yardage situations. Unfortunately.

Not happening imo. Would be a huge get, but Suh is going to take the richest offer available, which will likely to be the Jets, Bears, or Miami.

You kno\w, I called the booth to find out, but the defensive coordinator was watching film by that time, so I have no answer.

Packers are not good on the road. Dolphins also slowed them down and so did Buccs.

My point is, you don't break the bank for one player when you are still quite a bit a ways from competing.

Waste of money for them.

Are we still quite a ways from competing?

I moly ask because it seemed like you were implying that he didn't try or he took off for that play

Did you notice the pass play that won the Detroit game, the one where Romo moved around before fi8nding Williams, Suh didn't even rush?

I thought Suh was dominant in playoffs and from listening to people in Detroit he was that way all year. He has issues but one of them is not his ability on field. My biggest concern with him would be if he created division in locker room.

I don't follow Detroit all that closely, but I've never heard of Suh being a locker room cancer or anything. He's just a hot head on the field sometimes.

The window of opportunity for a team you think can win the Super Bowl is 1 maybe 2 years. I don't care about the future right now, as much as I care about winning a Super Bowl RIGHT NOW. When Dallas traded for Haley back in 92, that one player put us over the top.

If we think we're one defensive player away from winning the Super Bowl, pull the trigger, win a Super Bowl now, or try, and worry about everything else later. If you are a BUNCH of players away, I would not do it. But IMO, Suh will instantly make this defense a top defense. offensive line is the most important part of the offense, just ask Tom (never get touched) Brady. All his career, Belichick kept a wall in front of Brady, and that's why he's been successful. On defense, it's pass rush. If you can storm the back field nearly every pass play, you can make guys like Moore look like Prime Time. From there, you can add the best 2 pass rushers you can find in the first 3 rounds, including a speedy free safety.

The Dallas Cowboys with a dominant defense becomes, IMO, a dynasty.

Exactly.

My only concern is once Romo is done, we haven't shown we can develop QBs. When we talk about window, it's tied to Romo. The goal is to win the Super Bowl the following year, especially in this era of free agency.

NO!

We can use Suh's talent, not his price tag. Not to mention he could get suspended for being an idiot. Jerry is finally doing things the right way, after all these years of high end free agent flops and dumb trades. Yet people still want Jerry to revert back to his old failure ways.

What free agent flops and dumb trades? Jerry never made a move for an all-pro OL or DL. He made trades for guys like Roy Williams.

The team can develop QBs Romo is a good example now they do plan poorly for the future when their starter retires and this goes back to Aikman. They do suck developing QBs when the pressure is on, but I think most teams are that way since QB is such a key position.

Which is why, I think, they are in win-now mode. When you lose a franchise QB, you are expected to drop off significantly.

I think and hope the difference now is there are better football guys around Jerry that wasn't there before. Technically Aikman was gift since the team finished so bad in 88, Romo was spotted by Peyton and the Tuna. Hopefully the people in place now can evaluate talent a see if a guy is worth a shot whether 1st round or UDFA or some other team's castoff.

ALLEN PARK, Mich. -- Detroit Lions general manager Martin Mayhew said the team is open to all options with defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, including potentially using the franchise or transition tags on the free agent-to-be.
"He certainly is a big priority for us and he's an important part of our football team the past five years and I think the world of him," Mayhew said.
Mayhew said he spoke with Suh on Monday and he is "looking forward to working with him" to try and get a deal done. Mayhew said the team would prefer to sign a long-term deal with Suh, who would be one of the most sought-after free agents in 2015 if he reaches March without a deal.
The Lions cannot designate Suh for a franchise or transition tag until Feb. 16 and have until March 2 at 4 p.m. ET to make that decision. If Suh is franchised or transitioned, it would cost Detroit over $26 million in cap room for 2015.
Mayhew reiterated Monday what he has said often -- that Suh has told him he wants to remain in Detroit. Suh declined to talk about his contract status throughout the 2014 season after the Lions halted negotiations prior to training camp in 2014.

Proof that Suh is mentally ill. He WANTS to be in Detroit.

Det seems to be willing to use the franchise tag if they can't reach a deal. Nick Fairley will be the odd man out, given his injuries I doubt he would command any big offers. If he checked out physically I would not mind picking him up

That is a name to watch out for. As usual, it will probably come down to $$$.

Franchising Suh would put them 6M over the cap and they only have 41 players under contract. They would have do some massive restructuring to get under the cap enough to sign a full roster of players.

And yet they seem willing to do it, I think all the suh talk is a pipe dream for some, myself I would not break the bank and that is what it would take to bring him to Dallas.
