Out of 30 plays we averaged Emmitt touching the ball on 21. Oline that was unreal. We pounded the rock. Right down throats.

It is hard to believe, but Emmitt is underrated by too many people to include even some Cowboy fans.

In my eyes he is the best running back to ever play the game. He could pound the rock, he could pick up the blitz and block and he could catch balls out of the backfield. I truly miss the toughness he brought to the team.

You know the Cowboys are coming off a real bad game when someone posts a blast from the past video.

I think Garrett is stuck in those days. But he doesn't have a few key things..like Aikman, Emmitt, Irvin and an offensive line.

^^^ THIS! ^^^

And Jerry did not have to use even ONE first round pick on any OL during Emmitt's heyday.

In todays NFL Larry Allen would have been a #1 pick. But the fact is that by PURE luck the O line became one of the best in history. There is no other way to explain how it happened..

And the fact that despite trying for over 15 years Jerruh has not been able to duplicate it by using lower round and UDFA's.

Wasn't Jimmy Johnson responsible for most of those drafts? It is a little before my time.

Emmitt was the horse for our dynasty. All Aikman had to do was control the game with his laser perfect arm. This Oline must come together. We MUST run the rock.

Although his post retirement attitude and what not has skewed it a little for me, he is still to this day my favorite cowboy of all time. I loved that guy and what he did for us. A smile that could launch a thousand ships.

Danny White comes a close 2nd.

You can say the same thing, about Tom Brady.

Ok while we're on teh subject of Emmitt videos.... I've been looking for a specific clip for years...

Way back before "Hard Knocks" NFL films did a special "1 week with the cowboys" (though it might have just been a "1 week with Emmitt" not sure) thing leading up to a game vs the vikings. I can't remember what year it was. Anyway, when they get to the clips of what he actually did in the game there's this one clipe where a Viking DB blitzes and Emmitt just lays him the F out.

Anyone have that clip or know where I can find it?

Absolutely underrated. He is not as flashy. But his balance, power and vision are simply unbelievable. He make nearly imperceivable moves to make defenders miss. And watch how many yards he gets AFTER contact is unreal.....unreal.

So many people say Barry Sanders was better. More elusive but no where the RB Emmitt was.

Emmitt Smith

Breaking Tackles
Breaking Blitzes
Breaking Ankles
Breaking Records
Breaking Hearts

Emmitt Smith

When you absolutely positively need a man to run the rock

Catch-22!!

He was like a chess master, always 3 moves ahead of the defenders.
