There have been plenty of high profile guys to get excited about this year, but I want to talk about one guy who spends most of his time in the background but has been a key part of this season: Alan Ball.

When teams spread us out he's coming in as the 4th corner and playing well. When Hamlin was hurt he stepped in at safety and we didn't miss a beat. Yesterday he made an outstanding tackle on a punt return by a guy who is averaged 16 yards per return on the season.

I really hope we end up keeping him around. I surely wouldn't mind having Jenkins/Scandrick/Ball as our top 3 corners when that time comes that Newman retires or moves on in the future.

Yeah, Ball has stepped up no doubt. Dont forget Phillips at TE, Romo does not hesitate to go his way. Also Free has been pretty seemless at Tackle.

Right now, Ball is better than Newman as a CB. Better at covering, better at tackling. I've been saying it since game one of this year.

If I had my way, I'd dump Newman and keep Ball at all costs next year.

The boys on Sports Center were giving much love to Free for being 40 yards downfield blocking on Jones TD run. That is amazing that these guys can run that well. Also gave Kosier some props. Spencer has also stepped up. Oh, also, on Barber's big run, I believe, Phillips had a GREAT block that sprung MBIII!

How bout' Stephen Bowen and Jason Hatcher? They showed up big when Philly concentrated on double teaming Ware, Rat and Spencer. "The helmetless play" was awesome to watch!

Jason Garrett is the #1 unsung hero in this game. He has finally proven to me that he has evolved as a coordinator. With all the talk of balance between run and pass, that to me was still not good enough. Good offenses don't just have balance, they have a good, effective mix of that run and pass. That's what effective offensive coordinating is, and Jason Garrett finally bruoght all that togehter last night; and he did it in such a way where he basically dictated the entire game to the Eagles defense. He ditched the passive appraoch, kept them off balance, and basically took it to them head on. Very aggressive! Job very well done!

Great point on these two guys. The fact that we're not losing any production when they're on the field speaks volumes.

I still don't think Tony Romo has gotten enough credit from anybody except Trent Dilfer.
