Welcome to The Show! On Thursday, Patrick Crayton, WR for the Dallas Cowboys, will stop by to chat with SportsNation about the upcoming NFL season.

Last year, as part of the Cowboys' potent aerial attack, Crayton enjoyed his best season as a pro. He caught 50 passes for 697 yards while grabbing seven touchdowns, as Dallas finished the regular season with a 13-3 record. Crayton and the Cowboys will look to build off last season's success and make a deep run in the playoffs this year.

Send in your questions now and then join Crayton at 12:45 p.m. ET on Thursday!

Crayton, why did you pull up on your route at the end of the Giants game only to watch the pass end up where you should have been? Do you realize how close you came to being part of a play that would have been as legendary as the catch itself? How does it feel knowing the only thing that prevented that from happening was that you quite on your route too early? Do you sleep at night?

Ya know, I was pretty annoyed at the the way Crayton seemed to quit on that route as well, but doesn't anything think that maybe it's time to let that go?

Maybe, just maybe cut a former 7th round pick a little slack?

He's been a pretty good player for us.

Crayton's already addressed this. And your mischaracterizing what actually happened, not that you care.

At least Crayton isn't hiding somewhere. He's standing up to what happened. He knows he made some mistakes in that game and he knows the fans who write in to this chat aren't going to be very nice, but he agreed to do it anyway. I can think of a few players who wouldn't dare chat with fans after a game like that.

"Pat .. why do you talk big and play small?"

He had is best year as a PRO on a offense that broke many team records. That's playing small?

I'm sure it's nothing personal. It's just that they're looking at all of the available evidence and deciding that Crayton really doesn't have good hands, he doesn't try hard, and he didn't actually want to make the game winning catch.

What a great time to start producing at 29...

He is overpaid and his best asset (his hands) failed him after his worst asset(his fat mouth) talked big.

He should stop trying to be someone he is not, quit carrying the ball like a loaf of bread, and try and improve on his route running as his 4.65 speed will only get him so far.

He's been productive for years, is a good value, and had a huge drop in an important game. The rest of your criticism is meritless.

I hope Crayton talks more this season. Personally, I like players to have confidence in themselves and in their team. And I like the back and forth between the Cowboys and the Giants right now. I do wish he'd get out of the prediction business.

I wish he'd shut up.

He embarrasses himself and the team when he talks big and plays small.

It's irritating enough when great players talk too much, it's downright embarrassing when average players do.

Crayton's a good player but the criticism he gets is self-inflicted.

He played as big a role in the playoff defeat as anyone did.

And he was the only guy who ran his mouth beforehand.

That's talking big and playing small - and when it counts most.

Those big regular season games against the powerhouse Rams' defense aren't equal to screwing up in the playoffs against the Giants.

It is self-inflicted, and he deserves all of the criticism he gets--especially when he makes guarantees and then plays a direct role in not delivering on them. But he puts himself out there and isn't afraid to talk a little trash. I think that stuff can help a team under the right circumstances. It certainly makes the run-up to the games more interesting.

As long as the guy's a starter, he's got the right to speak his mind in my book. He's had a couple of game winning plays in his time here that I can recall.

In that singular instance, I think you're exactly right. He laid an egg in the playoff game. It was worse, too, because he also talked smack about meeting the Patriots in the Superbowl, too.

He hasn't made a habit of playing small, though. In fact, he's generally been clutch for us. He absolutely embarrassed Sean Taylor and brought in the game-winner against the Commanders a few years back which was a huge play in a rivalry game. He had a big 4th down grab in that game, as well.

Crayton's a hard worker and a good player. He's got good hands and we're really lucky at this point that he's turned into a starter for us. I don't understand why people have such a problem with the guy.
