ESPN.com's Michael Smith reports Washington Commanders WR Antwaan Randle El's contract with the Commanders is actually a seven-year, $31 million deal that is voidable after the sixth year. It also included $11.5 million in bonuses.

Thats ridiculous, THAT MUCH for a guy that only had 1 receiving TD last year and only 550+ yds. They basically just signed a KR/PR to a 7 year 31 million dollar deal including that huge signing bonus. That is ridiculous.!!!!!!!!!!!

Brandon Lloyd is their new #2 WR. Randel El is a #3 in WSH now, also will serve as KR/PR!!!!!!!!

Yep, Pitt wasn't too happy with Randle El when he filled in as #2 for Burress in 04 or for the entire year last year, basically Quincy Morgan and Cedric Wilson were coming up with bigger plays and Wilson really became the true #2 option.

Actually, it isn't a surprise to me because of two reasons.... 1. It's the Commanders and 2. They have done this before....anybody remember Chad Morton?

As with most of the Skins' free agent signings, don't expect the player to last more than three years there. They will build in some renegotiation and bonuses down the line, then ditch the player once he's owed the big bucks.

It's really a renters' paradise in Washington. Not knocking them, it is just how they've chosen to do business. They don't build through the draft. Considering how awful they drafted in the past decade*, maybe that's a wise move.

*Dallas drafted like *** for about a decade too.

Moss, Lloyd, Randle-El and Cooley make a formidable WR corp.

It will be interesting to see who throws the ball to them.

WRs in the draft are looking like a much better idea for us. It amazes me that Dan keeps spending and never gets caught by the cap. When JJ finally bit the bullet and we had the ugly aughts I thought great, we finally have clean cap that will not bite us in the years to come. But Dan just keeps high flying and it seems never has to pay the piper.

Dan avoids "captastrophe" because the cap keeps growing at such a fast rate. What was it, 75 mil just a few years ago?

People who predict cap troubles often neglect to factor in these increases. They think 3 or 4 years out at whatever the cap is at that time. By then it usually goes up.

That's saved Dan a couple of times.
