IRVING, Texas -- Houston Texans wide receiver Harry Williams has movement in his arms and legs but has not regained full strength following a collision with teammate Nick Ferguson during a Cowboys kickoff return in the first half of Friday's preseason game, according to a medical source who spoke with ESPN's Ed Werder.
Williams was immobilized and carted off the field before being transported by ambulance to a local hospital. At this time, he's still undergoing tests to determine the nature and severity of the injuries that left him motionless on the field for several minutes.
The Texans have only confirmed that Williams has a neck injury and has been transported to a hospital. Every member of the Texans left the bench area and stood on the field as medical personnel surrounded Williams.

Thanks for the update. Here's hoping that it's good news form here on in. The fact that he has feeling, even if he doesn't have full strength, sounds like good news.

I'm real happy the kid will be OK. I prayed hard when that happened. Very scary. Didn't they move back the kickoffs 5 yards a season or so ago? Alot of coaches were PISSED: said it would cause too many injuries. Maybe they were right. Remember, the kid from Buffalo last season too.....

Glad to hear he's got movement in his arms and legs. I was really worried he was going to be paralyzed after that. I hope he turns out to be just fine.

I was very concerned he was having breathing/oxygen issues on the field.

I think this could be a very serious injury - unfortunately.

Houston wide receiver Harry Williams will undergo spine surgery this weekend at Presbyterian Hospital after suffering a neck injury.
Cowboys' team physician Andrew Dossett will fuse the second and fourth vertebrae.

Williams was taken off the field on a stretcher after colliding with teammate Nick Ferguson while making a tackle on the Cowboys' Isaiah Stanback in the first quarter.

"He's got movement throughout his body," Houston coach Gary Kubiak said. "All the feedback I'm getting is that Harry will be fine."

Williams lay motionless for several minutes as the entire Texans' team stood on the field. Doctors and trainers were talking to him and giving him oxygen as he lay on a stretcher.

He very well may be fine, but his football career is over. Scary moment.

Glad to see he will walk again but his career is over. Very sad for him and his family

Special teamer Harry Williams will have surgery for a fractured vertebrae after being injured in the Texans' preseason loss Friday night.
Williams experienced temporary paralysis after colliding with teammate Nick Ferguson while covering a kick. He regained movement in his extremities, but needs fusion surgery to stabilize his spine. Doctors believe Williams will be able to walk again, but this may end the 26-year-old's career. Aug. 23 - 1:07 am et
