Stallworth grief stricken over accident

The Cleveland Browns have issued the following statement from Donte Stallworth:

"My family and I are grief stricken over the tragic accident which occurred Saturday on Miami Beach where Mario Reyes sadly lost his life.My thoughts and prayers are with the Reyes family during this incredibly difficult time. Unfortunately, since this accident is still under police investigation, I cannot comment further on the matter at this time."

The Miami police are still waiting on toxicology tests to determine whether they will press charges against Stallworth.

I can't imagine what he must be feeling. Like i stated in the thread that was started a few days ago when the accident took place, a very dear friend of my took his own life because he couldn't live with the fact that he killed a family of three, a mother and her two children, while driving drunk. He survived with minor injuries and was in jail waiting for sentecing, etc... when he killed himself.

My thoughts and prayers go out not only to the deceased's loved ones but also to Stallworth and his family.

If he is found to be under the influence, then it's going to be hard for me to believe his statement.

even if he was high as a kite or drunk as a skunk you would think he would feel remorse hes not a serial killer who does this sort of thing

Even if he was found to be under the influence, how does that change the fact that he is now grief stricken? If he was indeed drunk, it was stupid, yes, but doesn't change the fact that he has to live with the fact that he has taken somebody's life.

Only he knows what's in his heart. Far be it for me to question him. I know i'd be tore up if i were him, and him being a human being like myself, i would be surprised if he wasn't grief stricken. His being drunk and any past transgressions have no bearing on that fact.

Yeah, that would not be in a good position for him and his family...poor dude!

Even if you were at fault or not...you still have to live with it.

I feel bad for him and I know he regrets what happened, but going anywhere at 7 o'clock in the morning and trying to go around another driver does not look good, especially after you signed a big contract. It makes it look like you were partying all night and on the way home to crash. Just my thoughts. I hope it isn't true and he was sober.

I had something similar happen to me 12 years ago. I was driving and it was a four lane road and this kid tried to straddle his bike and walk it across the road but what he did was dart out in front of the car that was in the lane next to me. I was on the inside. The other car saw him start to move so he broke, but I didn't because of where I was and he ran right in front of me. I hit him broad side and right in the middle of my car.

I saw him flip onto my hood and I heard his bike under my car. Then he slid off when I hit the brakes and he kind of went under the car as well. scared the crap out of me. When I stopped, I got out and looked under the car and there he was right under the front of the car and the bike stuck under the back.

A cop happened to see the whole thing from a pizza hut parking lot and rushed over. Traffic behind me was stopped and backed up except for a few knuckle heads who tried to buzz around the scene. When I looked under the car the kid looked up at me, fear in his eyes and he was crying.

I laid on the ground with him while the cop git under there as well. He asked him if he was hurt but he didn't say anything. He just kept crying. I laid there with him under the car until the ambulance got there and they made me move. As it turned out he just had some bruises and scrapes on him.

I still have dreams about that. I remember when I went to the police station to give my report I started to get sick to my stomach and had to go to the bathroom to throw up. When the mother got to the station where the kid was taken along with his bike, the mother started freaking out on ME. Like it was my fault the kid ran out in front of me.

The cop told her to settle down and that if I had not been doing the speed limit I likely would have not been able to slowed the car before the kid would have flipped over the back of the car which the kid could have been hit by another car. The cop told her I laid under the car with the kid until the ambulance got there and she was still yelling at me. About a week later I got a phone call from the kids mom who then apologized to me and thanked me for staying with her kid.

So no matter what the circumstances are, whether you are at fault or not, these kinds of things can stay with you, and while no one died in this incident or there were no serious injuries, I can appreciate to some degree what Stallworth is going through.

Damn Bleu Star, I love that speech that Tashard Choice made before that Georgia Tech game. I know a lot people commented on it, but I just watched it, and truly believe that the Cowboys have a true player.

I do not want to lose him.

Yessirr! I don't want to lose this guy either. In the face of tremendous odd against us he came up huge during a key stretch last year when both Felix and MB3 went down to injury. The guy has mad heart and his play on the field backs up the image he conveys.

if you were driving drunk and killed someone, would you not grieve the loss of that person or the affect it had on their family?

I believe him too but not because of a statement issued by his employer.
