OK, all you grief-stricken ninnies.

He's grief-stricken.

And would it kill any of you wards of the court to say even that a man was killed?

Fricken state of affairs when we are all wrapped up in the emotional tide of a professional football player who is suspected to driving drunk and is now grief-stricken.

Again, there are victims in this and it's not only stallworth.

It seems like we have a lot of judgmental dbags here calling this a PR move, etc. Haters with no purpose in life it seems except waive their cowboy pom-poms.

I don't like stallworth the football player but i have no doubt he is striken over this. anyone actually human or with a heart would.

who doesn't come across near fatal ACCIDENT scenarios while safely driving every day going to work, school, etc.

Yet, no grief striken posts/threads for the victim? I wonder if you feel sorry for the murder at his parole hearing?

He's grief stricken that he killed someone and it's not a shock.

That should be his reaction.

And he should also be treated accordingly if it comes to light that he was driving around drunk or that he was driving wreckless.

His life will never be the same and nor should it be.

Stallworth grief stricken over accident

The Cleveland Browns have issued the following statement from Donte Stallworth:

"My family and I are grief stricken over the tragic accident which occurred Saturday on Miami Beach where Mario Reyes sadly lost his life.My thoughts and prayers are with the Reyes family during this incredibly difficult time. Unfortunately, since this accident is still under police investigation, I cannot comment further on the matter at this time."

The Miami police are still waiting on toxicology tests to determine whether they will press charges against Stallworth.

If he is deemed drunk, he will be damn stricken since his NFL career will be officially over, but the ball handling won't be!

you know cajun, you're a real saint for staying with that kid.

I think most people would have done that though. At least if it was my kid, I would hope they would.

Report: Stallworth Over Legal Limit, Unconfirmed
Police & Attorney For Stallworth Have Not Confirmed Report

59-Year Old Mario Reyes Was Killed In The Crash
Toxicology Reports Are Pending
MIAMI BEACH (CBS4) ―

An attorney representing Cleveland Browns receiver Donte' Stallworth, along with Miami Beach Police, have said they cannot confirm media reports that Stallworth has been found over the legal limit for driving while intoxicated in connection with a traffic accident that left a Miami man dead on the MacArthur Causeway last weekend.

The report, broadcast at noon on a South Florida television station, cited unnamed sources "close to the investigation" in reporting Stallworth's blood alcohol limit from a test done shortly after the accident, was "slightly over the legal limit."

CBS4 News contacted Stallworth's attorney Bob Switkes and Miami Beach Police spokesman Juan Sanchez who both say they could not confirm the media report. Sanchez went on to say that the toxicology results weren't expected back until Friday.

Wednesday, Stallworth released a statement saying he is "grief stricken" over the car accident that killed 59-year old Mario Reyes.

The statement, released by the team Wednesday, read that his "thoughts and prayers are with the Reyes family during this incredibly difficult time. Unfortunately, since this accident is still under police investigation, I cannot comment further on the matter at this time." Stallworth has been cooperating with police and no charges have been filed.

Police say Stallworth was headed toward the beach when he hit Reyes with his Bentley. Reyes was near a crosswalk but it's unclear if he was crossing legally. Reyes had worked all night at his job as a crane operator with the shipping company Bernuth Agencies, located just feet from the crash. He was trying to cross the street to catch a bus home when he was hit and killed. His family and co-workers said he had clocked out only minutes before the accident around 7:00 a.m. Saturday, Reyes was described by relatives as a "family man." Reyes was married for nearly 20 years and has a 15-year old daughter.

CBS4 news partner The Miami Herald obtained video of Stallworth's field sobriety test minutes after the Saturday morning crash. Click here to see the entire video.

Stallworth, 28, is an eight-year pro NFL wide receiver. Stallworth signed a seven-year, $35 million contract with the Browns as a free agent before last season but hardly played because he was hurt. He was scheduled to receive a $4.75 million signing bonus Friday.

A television station in Miami reportedly is reporting that Brown receiver Donte’ Stallworth was “slightly” over the legal limit of 0.08 percent blood-alcohol concentration when his vehicle collided with Mario Reyes, a pedestrian who died as a result of the Saturday morning collision.
CBS4 in Miami reports that the report, which was made at noon by a local television station that CBS4 didn’t identify, could not be confirmed by Miami Beach police or by Stallworth’s lawyer.
If the report is accurate, Stallworth is in serious legal jeopardy. In Florida, DUI manslaughter carries a maximum sentence of 15 years.
In contrast, Leonard Little served only 90 days a decade ago after killing Susan Gutweiler while Little drove drunk.
Regardless of the manner in which the potential criminal proceedings unfold, Stallworth also faces enormous civil liability. The fact that he earned a $4.875 million roster bonus the day before the incident could make $4.875 million the bottom-line demand for the eventual settlement discussions.
Then again, Stallworth might never get that $4.875 million from the Browns, depending on the language of his contract and the manner in which it would be interpreted by an arbitrator.

"reportedly reporting"? How ****** incompetent can these guys be? JUST VERIFY THE SOURCE OR DON'T PUBLISH.

Anyway, this story is sad regardless of what Stallworth's condition was. Gotta feel bad for all involved.

Anyone know what happens if he was slightly over the limit but Mr. Reyes was found at fault for darting out into the street? (I would assume Stallworth could still get a dui charge but not manslaughter, but not sure)

So was it an accident that someone chooses to DRINK and DRIVE?

And, now, some other idiot is saying the victim might have darted out into the street?. Yes, let's blame the victim in the name of a lesser charge.

This is all sick: Rallying round a DUI suspect and forgetting the victim.

Really sickening.

Is sympathy in such a short supply that we can only afford to give it to one person at a time?

Yes. More importantly, every situation has one evil person and one good person.

Even the max punishment is a slap on the hand. And i will never understand how these rich (_______________), are driving intoxicated. I’d have someone drive me everywhere, drunk or not.
