I think once (or if) Turner becomes a 1st string back that defenses key and practice for, people's opinions of him will come back down to earth some.

Us Cowboys fans should already understand how a 2nd string, change of pace back can come in and be successful on limited touches. It doesn't automatically translate into 1st string, main back success. Even Hambrick did well in that situation and Barber is doing well with it right now.

There's reasons why he was a 5th round selection...any team that gives a 1st for him is desperate. If we brought him in here, a Turner/Barber combo wouldn't be any better off than the Jones/Barber combo.

1st round pick for this guy? He's a nice player, but he's never been the lead dog and most of his running is after LT has loosened up the defense. Let's hold on to our draft picks, especially when we have a very good rb combo already in place.
I agree. I'd rather draft out of the 1st this year and get an extra 1st next year. The we'd have a shot at the RB from AK if we wanted to ge in that direction.

I can't see why Norv wants to let the guy get away anyway, unless he's not suitable to block for Tomlinson. I think Jerry needs to think this one over....

bring this ridiculous beast in! offer them julius jones and a pick or something because they dont even have a backup RB..i dont care. just bring him in. :star:
We want draft picks. RB is not a need for our team. I think the Chargers will switch 1st rounders with someone and an additional pick. Here is a highlight video of "The Burner!"

That video shows pretty clearly what I've been saying for months. Turner's productivity is all about performing well in blowouts. The love he gets on this board is amazing. But he's just a guy at this point.

I leave you all with two words on the topic: Lamont Jordan.....

I will tell you the difference between LaMont Jordan and "The Burner." "The Burner" runs behind his pads and Jordan runs like a small back. You do not see Jordan breaking tackles. Michael Turner is going to make some team very happy. Also, since he is just a guy, I take it that you see people busting tackles in the N.F.L. every day, let alone teams like Baltimore, N.E., and Da Bears?!?!?

I have nothing bad to say about Turner. I actually think he can be a pretty good starting back in the NFL. And I don't think Lamont Jordan is all that bad either. He plays for a crap team, with a terrible offense, and still had 1000 yards in I believe his first season there.

That said, I definitely don't think he's worth what the Bolts are asking. If we were looking for a RB, I would give up a 2nd or 3rd for him. But we already have two young guys who can be as good. I think MB3 is a similar back.

Big whoop, LT runs teams into the ground and Turner comes in with a 30 point lead and runs people over. Yep, that's how you evaluate a back -- by focusing on how he does against an exhausted defense that wants to go home.

What the hell argument are you trying to make? It is pretty clear that he's not getting the ball early.

Here's some real information. 4th quarters last year -- Turner got 44% of his carries and 49% of his total yards. His 2nd half totals? 68% of his carries and yards.

23% of his carries came when SD was up by 17 or more -- with another 22% when they were up by 9-16 points. 80% of his overall carries were with a lead.

So who is Michael Turner? He's a back who gets the ball late in games when his team has a lead.

Michael Turner is big and extemely fast. Just ask a Colts fan. All he does is break tackles. He is not going to Dallas so there is point in talking up "The Burner." We will all have a chance to watch him in this upcoming season. Just be glad that he is not going to the NFC East.

He does break tackles but he's never done it consistently against anything but a tired 2nd half defenses. Am I'm supposed to get all hot because he broke tackles against the Colts two years ago? That game was totally consistent with his pattern, in the game late, with a lead, against a D that had about 70 plays run on them at that point and he breaks a big run.
