I guess I'm missing the point, Thunder is trying to make about Turner.

He's got talent. Nobody denies that. Is he worth a 1st and a 3rd? Nope.

At most, a 2nd, according to SP. A 1st just doesn't seem plausible, but there a teams who could surprise.

So what is being debated, here? Cuz I think I'm all confused now.

Basically, we want to know whether or not LaMont Jordan is being hamstrung by his offensive line and Ronnie Brown.

The only conclusion we've come to so far is that Michael Turner has tremendous upside potential, and that he could gamechange Herchel Walker.

I realize it doesn't make a lick of sense, but give us time.

and just how many games as turner changed?

Well, he won our game against the at-the-time undefeated Colts with an 83-yard TD run in their house in '05.

Last year he got us jump-started in the second half against the Steelers with a couple long runs in a game where LT was doing nothing. Got 5 first downs in that game which really got us going and then helped seal the deal in the last 5 minutes. He ran for 25 yards on a 4th-down play in our second game against the Chiefs to jump-start the offense after we had started with a couple punts. He had a 17-yard carry on 4th down in the playoffs and also scored a TD. He had a 30-yard reception and 88 total yards in the final game of the season to help us put away the Cardinals in a game where they kept hanging around. He had numerous big kick returns. He had 8 plays of 20+ yards -- including a 73 yarder-- in 83 offensive touches. In two years and 273 carries Marion Barber has managed as many 20+ yard runs as MT had last year in 80 carries. Last year Julius Jones had over three times as many carries as MT and only 5 went for 20+.

Hell, everyone keeps singing the praises of a guy like Jerious Norwood...he had three fewer 20+ yard runs in 19 more carries than MT.

MT's opportunities have been limited, as so many here have pointed out, but he's made an inordinate number of big plays for a guy who ultimately has touched the ball so little.

I was going to make a serious reply to this thread until I saw the "Turner is more physically gifted than Emmitt" stupidity, now all I can do is shake my head at Charger fans 3 years ago they were bigger laughingstocks than the Commanders, now all of the sudden they think they are the best team in the league whose backups are more physically gifted than one of the best RB's of all time. Dellusional does not begin to explain this nonsense. I will be seriously happy when Norv puts their *** back in the basement so these charger fans can go back to being silent bystanders while the big boys talk football.

Michael Turner-RB-Chargers Mar. 31 - 8:55 pm et

The Dallas Morning News reports the Cowboys are not serious about acquiring Chargers restricted free agent Michael Turner.

A story in Saturday morning's San Diego Union-Tribune reported Dallas and the Jets have been talking with the Bolts about Turner. Both seem far less likely landing spots than Buffalo, Tennessee, or Green Bay.

how many years has shaub been "going to" cash in?

it's situational in as much as talent. so shaub is this years delhomme. yay.

maybe someone will get desperate and go for turner. but who?

jets? nope.
green bay? maybe if they felt lynch wouldn't be there.
dallas? i'd lose and 2nd, preferabely a 3rd for him. no more. but why? was our running game an issue we had to "pay high" to fix last year?

no.

so turner, at least this year, won't be a cowboy.

this ain't to knock him, this isn't to say he won't be good elsewhere. this is just to say it's timing and based on unbiased viewpoints, he's not a 1st and 3rd.

Yeah...so? How does that make us delusional?

A.) Talent-wise we probably are the best team in the NFL, and if not we're definitely in the top-3.

B.) Our backup, in this case our backup RB, IS more physically gifted than somel of the best RB's who've ever played, including Emmitt Smith. Deal with it. Hey you know what? Jeff George was more physically gifted than Joe Montana. I know this will come as earth-shattering news to you, but in most measureables Emmitt Smith was nothing special when it came to his pure physical tools. This is the NFL, son. There are LOTS of players who have come through the league with better tools than Emmitt. But it's not just the tools that make a player great. Learn to distinguish the difference before you start puffing out your chest.

yeah but with Norv, I think their will definitely be some slippage. Good luck w/that guy.

~sigh~ The only RB San Diego has that's worth even mentioning in the same discussion as Emmitt is LT. Turner and his 941 total yards do not.

That said, what does all Turner's untapped potential have to do with why teams won't trade picks for the best backup in the league? That's all that most of us are even pointing out. As good as he is, he's not worth two picks. He's a RB, not a QB. A QB with a limited resume may be worth that kind of risk. A RB is not...especially when you can draft one for cheaper who may very well produce the same numbers as the guy with the limited resume.

... and the way I see it, the asking price is a first round pick, because the third rounder can be re-acquired by trading Jones.

For the record, I like Julius Jones. I think he has a alot of talent, but I see Turner as a guy with more upside. Turner has speed and power, and will, therefore, keep defenses a little more off balance. I like the idea of an already good offense getting even better, how about you?

:welcome: to the forum.

The Cowboys have denied any interest in Turner.
