IRVING, Texas -- Dallas Cowboys tight ends coach Wes Phillips is interviewing with the Washington Commanders, according to multiple sources.

Phillips is among a handful of Cowboys’ assistants with expiring contracts. He has been with the club since 2007 when his father, Wade, was named the head coach. In 2013 he was the tight ends coach after serving as the assistant offensive line coach in 2011 and ’12. He also spent time working with wide receivers and special teams in his time on the staff.

Isn't he the guy praised for reading Ds up in the booth and relaying that info to the other offensive coaches? Could be a huge loss.

I think its funny that people post things like this. What experience do you have in judging someone's ability to coach? He obviously lasted after his Dad left so he had to be good at what he did or he would of been let go like his father.

Wade advised him to stay and learn. If he is leaving now it is probably to move up. I hope he stays.

No, that was Wade Wilson. I do think Wes will be a HC one day.
If you can believe Jerry, then he implied that Wes was incompetent and had to be replaced by Wilson in the booth.

His contract is expiring. It's in the blurb that's in the OP.

You guys just read the thread title, huh? lol smh

No I read it, I was just confused if they meant expiring right now or after the next season.

I had originally thought eberflus and Henderson's contracts were up this year also but it turns out its next year.

and listening to talking cowboys eberflus is highly thought of so if something were to happen with kiffen, eberflus would be the DC not Marinelli.

His contract is expiring at the end of the season...which means probably after the super bowl.

I guess Witten has needed Wes' wisdom and tips all these years and we should be grateful.

Well, another coach with a "famous" name. These Phillips Boys, they get a lot of mileage from the name of a guy who coached last century, dressed like a bumpkin, wore a ridiculous hat and belt buckle and gave new meaning to playoff futility.

These Phillips Boys just keep hanging around, don't they?.
