That's exactly what he's reporting.

Hope he's right. I'm not as adamant against a third QB in general or McGee in particular, but I think there's too much talent at other positions to use on a third QB when you can put someone as good on the practice squad.

McGee
It may be because the third string QB runs the scout team and as a running QB he can imitate RGIII and Vick in practice. (I didn't say duplicate, I said imitate.)

I see the argument, but could be better just throwing Dunbar as a proxy as far as mobility.

McGee's speed nor arm is near the same, practicing vs him would lull you into believing you were covered, and then get a rude awakening. Again, see the point, but dont see it worth it for 4 games (maybe Carolina too)

The reports on the Fan 105.3 now are that they're hearing that McGee is on the way out. Maybe he's the 22nd guy that hadn't been informed earlier...

Dallas might have been working the phones for a trade before cutting him. Might as well find out if anyone's interested before making the move.

This is apparently their sentiment too.

Could see Miami picking him up just based on that sweet, one-handed catch he made.)

Not only is it being reported that they're interested in trading with GB for James Jones, as I mentioned earlier, but are working out Donte Stallworth as well. Sounds like they may be going to veteran route in Miami.

OL cuts feel like they're cutting us thin - I hate to join the chorus that had talked about it, but I think we have to be expecting to sign someone there, vet or otherwise.

Just doing the math on the bubble guys in my head, with Lemon out and 2QBs, we're either going 4 RB or carrying 6 CB.

Agreed. Jerry said that they had fielded some calls about McGee in one of his in-game interviews (I believe against the Chargers). Maybe he wasn't blowing smoke.

Not understanding the hate for Olewale. Guy can play 3 positions. I'm not saying Pro Bowler, but I like his abilty as a bottom of the roster guy.

There are "sources" reporting they're going to keep both Dunbar and Olawale in addition to Murray, Jones, Tanner, and Vickers. Nothing confirmed that I know of, but there is some word they could go long at the position--at least for week 1.

Agreed. Olawale can help this team in a lot of ways- carrying the ball, playing fullback, playing special teams- glad it appears Dallas is keeping him over Chapas.

There has to be a trade or something going down

Just read your post: http://cowboyszone.com/forums/showpost.php?p=4695865&postcount=9

So there's a report that McGee is rumored to be on the chopping block, eh? Makes more sense to keep another player on the 53 than have SM tie up a spot at this stage of his less-than-hoped-for career w/ the 'Boys. I feel better about that.

Possibly ending up w/ something in a trade for him would be a bonus.

I'm wondering if they're keeping Olawale to serve as a third TE in the event that Witten isn't ready to go, and he'd potentially be gone as soon as Witten is ready.

That was my other thought

This is almost entirely unofficial, but by my count there are 17 cuts out of 22 to make so far:

Coale, Chapas, Hamilton, Lemon, Benford, Carpenter, Leary, Adams, L.Smith, Bass, Gunn, Loper, McQuistan, Geathers, Whitley, Callaway, and Szczerba.

I think there's some easy names to fill out the last five- Akwasi Owusu-Ansah, Teddy Williams, and Saalim Hakim. Somebody here mentioned Tyrone Novikoff, but he was cut last week to get down to 75.

So who will be the last two....??

Baraka Atkins, and Derrick Dockery is my guess.

That was me...somehow missed removing him from my roster.

The Sports Update on The Fan just said that both QBs Carpenter and McGee had been released. When they got back to the Rage, though, they said it was still Fisher's inside info, and not confirmed. Anyone else hear that?
