Updated: ***Cowboys Players Official Cut List***

How in the world are they cut before AOA, McGee, Teddy Williams... this is baffling.

We do not know when they where notified by the team or what order the information leaked at different times.

Hopefully, they will wake up tomorrow morning and come to their senses before they turn in the names and take Hamilton's and Coale's name off the list. :) Yes, that is what is going to happen.

I also love how Leary didn't even make the team after all the hype Jerry gave him

Right...the front office of an NFL team is going to come out and say, "Well, we kept this guy because we like what he offers us in this area. Is that okay with everyone, or should we change our minds and cut him?"

Assuming they actually do keep him, then they have their reasons, whatever they are...even if it's only as a security blanket in the event that Romo gets injured.

So would any other team in the league if their #3 QB was starting for the whole season. This statement is perhaps one of the greatest DUH moments in the history of these forums.

Not trying to be antagonistic or personal there, but c'mon.

I hear you. I'm just PO'ed right now. I hate this kid. I've always thought he sucked since college. He can't play. I just don't get the thinking by this organization. I really don't. We've been in mediocrity for years and we keep doing the same things over and over. I would rather take my chances on potential, then somebody that has been in the system for years but can't play. At least there would be an upside.

I hear you about McGee. I'm just so PO'ed about Coale. He can play, and it looks like he's going to be taking his talents elsewhere (the kid is talented), while the nimrods in Valley Rance keep Holmes, who I dont think has the talent of Coale. Coale was a victim of the injury bug.

Jerry better hope he can get him to the practice squad. He has $250,000 worth of checks to write to him and they sure would be tough to sign if he is in another team's uniform.

That's really the only cut that surprises me. Looks like we might start the season with only 8 OL.

I don't know how it's a surprise cut. What team pays a guaranteed salary for a backup who can't play and won't be active?

No, you think there would be an upside. But there's a lot more to what players can or can't achieve than the small percentage we, as fans, can see or know. So if the guys who have been playing, scouting, and coaching for 25-30 years say a young guy's potential upside is not worth the risk of losing something they know--at least for the short term--they're more likely to be right than we are. Not 100% of the time, mind you...but more likely. If you take the mindset that you always keep potential over someone who is solid, you're going to have a bad football team most of the time.

And for the record, the Cowboys have not done the same thing year after year. In fact, the last few years have been markedly better from a personnel perspective. But all the potential in the world does you zero good if it doesn't come out on the field. And the fact is that the players have not gotten the job done on the field when it's mattered. And news flash--Stephen McGee, who may be on the cut list anyway if Mike Fisher's source is correct, wasn't the one on the field not getting it done. Just sayin'...

***ADMIN Edit***

Released Players
Shaun Chapas
Adrian Hamilton - http://espn.go.com/blog/dallas/cowboys/post/_/id/4696627/source-cowboys-release-olb-adrian-hamilton
Clifton Geathers - per 105.3
Pat McQuistan - per 105.3
Daniel Loper - per 105.3
Ronald Leary - per 105.3
Harland Gunn - per 105.3
Jeff Adams - per 105.3
Rudy Carpenter - RT @rudygcarp12: Thankful for the opportunity Dallas its been great!
Danny Coale - Josh Ellis ‏@DCStarJEllis The Cowboys will release fifth-round pick Danny Coale.
Orie Lemon - Calvin Watkins ‏@calvinwatkins Cowboys LB Orie Lemon on the chopping block today. Team hopes to bring him back to practice squad.
Ben Bass - Nick Eatman ‏@nickeatman The Cowboys are expected to cut rookie DE Ben Bass
Lionel Smith - Lionel Smith Jr. ‏@LSmith3 It's been great #cowboyszone... Learned a lot here and wldnt trade the experience for nothin

So kept Adcock instead of Leary at guard; Atkins instead of Lemon or Hamilton at linebacker; Holmes instead of Coale at receiver; also kept both NTs Brent and Callaway (at least for the moment).

All of those surprise me a bit, especially Atkins ... but I was wondering why he got fairly early playing time in our warm-up game against San Diego. Still could see him getting cut, though.

Hopefully, we get Lemon, Hamilton, Leary, Bass and Coale, at least, back on practice squad.

Doubt we get more than 2 of those guys. Other teams watched our games too I'm sure haha.

Yep. The Rams for instance when Hamilton smashed there backup to the turf and he hobbled off the field.

That is one of the Rams strength is their dline, they need lb (4-3 ones), secondary and o-line more than anything else

I would be thrilled if I had a struggling defense and I saw Lemon and Hamilton on the waiver wire.

Garrett is letting friendship get in the way of business when it comes to McGee.

We shouldn't need Kyle Orton if McGee was worth a flip.

I'm surprised no RB has been cut.

Probably no more than two will be picked up. Every team has players they didn't want to cut and hope make it to their practice squad. Where you run into trouble is when a team is particularly weak at a position and didn't have someone to keep better than the guy you cut.

I think we normally lose one or two players. It will probably be like that again, although I do think Coale and Lemon are particularly vulnerable. Hamilton flashed but wasn't consistent.
