I am no longer upset. We took the RB today that could step in and carry the load if MB3's bruising style of running causes him to be sidelined for any significant time. Felix can play KR, slot, WR, HR hitter... whatever they want to do with him works for me now. Choice is fully capable insurance.

so its ok for you to use expert to validate your point however using expertss for mendenhall > Jones was something you kind of brushed aside.

I understand your point... but those are opinions I've formed over the course of a year (since last year's draft) and nothing that I'm solely relying on "experts" for. However, many are upset about Mendenhall and can say no more than, "He was ranked No 12!"

Excellent point. Count me as one of the ones who wanted Mendenhall for the exact reasons you've stated. I don't watch college ball and I start reading the "experts" opinions just before the combine.

Maybe that's why I don't curse the draft too much. That fact is, I really don't know anything other than what the experts have said or things that I've read on here.

I do like the fact that we picked up two RBs and two CBs. I think that was important. I'd still like to see some vet WR with a little upside come in before training camp.

I could give dozens of examples of how they were wrong too... just like you could give more examples of them being correct. That would do neither of us any good.

I gave reasons why I liked our moves and none of them have anything to do with ratings.

BTW, how you doing, cajun?

I just don't think any of will know one way or another for a few years anyway.

We'll see.

I am recuperating. :D

You?

I like Felix Jones but can someone please explain the the thoughts behind Felix being a faster, shiftier, "change of pace" guy when Mendenhall is just as explosive and faster?

People are upset because we passed on Mendenhall and took Jones. I can see no other reason why than because a bunch of "draft experts" said Mendenhall was going early.

Look at it this way: Felix was the one and only (last) scatback who also had the intagibles of a running back. He has great vision, balance, character, strength (for his size), run instincts and no history of injuries.

Disagree there as a pure running back of the speed guys I think Charles is better. I don't like getting a guy like that in the first, a guy who even JJ admits is never going to be a starter. I think Charles could, and you could have him later in the draft. That said I like the player in Jones just not at 22 in the first but in the end it won't matter where we got him if he ends up being what they want.

size strength speed toughness in every aspect of the game of a RB he is better. He will help the contract negotations with barber we will have a better back up RB. We would set with mendenhall to many questions about Jones ability for me. I don't see how we pass up on the better player for a back up RB. The Jones picks ensure that we will have to sign MB3 to a long term deal.

If you lean a lil closer you will see that roses smell like.....

Mendenhall is a better RB.

I disagree. Mendenhall is a fall down on first contact runner.

Because Felix Jones is shiftier and faster on the football field.

They do not run 40's at the combine with pads on but they do play in them and then keep stats of those games. Looks at who had higher averages per carry and longer runs.

Looks at the ridiculous percentage of FJ runs that went for over 10 or 20 yards.

Felix Jones was juking LSU defenders out of their jocks and then blazing past them. He did the same against other very tough SEC teams.

Had I not watched about 3 late season Arkansas games I would probably be right there complaining like some others but Felix Jones was the better player in the games I saw over Mendenhall. Mendenhall saved his best game for last and had a very nice Rose Bowl against USC but his team was down huge the entire game.

I think everyone complaining about picking Jones just wanted the Boys to pick their favorite rb(Stewart, Jonhson,Charles, Mendenhall,etc...), which makes for a good debate. I personnally would of preferred Stewart. but Jones is a quick, elusive back with decent size that is also a dynamic kickoff return guy. With the Cowboys selecting him with the 22nd pick he also went right about where most draft experts/scouts predicted he would go. So get a grip folks, its not like the Cowboys reached for some scrub from BFE University.

These same draft gurus also had Steven Jackson going ahead of Julius Jones.

Oh wait, that doesn't help your argument.

Try the Tim Couch or Ryan Leaf angle....they were supposed to be the football equivelent of GOD weren't they? MUCH more highly rated than.....our FA Quarterback we have now. Who would ever build a franchise around a lower RANKED (or not ranked at all) pick?? The horror!!!!

Yep, you got that nailed down. I saw 3 full games last year of Mendenhall. Against Michigan, my favorite team, Ohio State and USC.

He was not impressive any game except against USC. I forget his QB, but he was more impressive runner than Mendenhall personally.

Now Felix Jones, from what I saw was always making big plays. But for me negative always been, can he do it when he is the focal Point? So as complement to Barber, he would work out perfectly.

Now I only really saw Choice in Senior bowl, intently that is, but came away impressed and hoped we could get him in 4th or 5th round. And I think he was perfect "Choice" there.
