I'm posting this link for the final paragraph alleging the USA has been suspended from the sport for Anti-doping violations. Mentions WADA and the IOC.

I believe this is about USA Football, the NFL funded organization that fields Team USA in International competitions. Past players include current NFL players such as Jameis Winston and Todd Gurley. At a time when they are considering football for the Olympics, the USA gets suspended for doping violations.

There's also an allegation about Boston College and Georgia Tech representatives.

These allegations all involve respectable football programs with young athletes. Is doping culture becoming mainstream now?

Is there serious consideration for American Football in the Olympics? I had not heard anything about it before.

No it is refusal to follow recommended measures.

The Article said:
The suspensions were handed out because these countries refused to cooperate with World Anti-Doping Association (WADA) recommended measures for out of competition testing including refusing to give athletes’ whereabouts information.

Checked it out a bit more in other articles. WADA has recommended standards. These became part of the International rules for football. USA broke the rules - wouldn't cooperate with out of competition testing. USA Football was disciplined and suspended for violating the rules.

Anyone know why USA Football wont cooperate with the Anti Doping? Surely this sends a very negative message?

Yes. The International Federation of American Football has provisional Olympic recognition. It is expected to be an Olympic sport in 2024.

True you can't play a game every couple days. The tournament would have to start 3 months ahead of time.
I guess they could do a seven on seven flag deal, but why?

Would work the same way as the IFAF World Cup. Only the top 8 go to the Olympic games. Qualifying can happen over the preceding 2 years.

America hasn't won a few of the similar competitions to date. Japan has won 2 World Cups and Germany has won a World Games. Depends on whether USA fields pros or college athletes.

seriously, what players did we use? When were these games held? During football season when we had no players to send?

Don't underestimate the opposition. The average U.S. State has c.20,000 active players at all levels.

Germany has over 50,000.
France has 25,000.

So many overseas countries have 'football footprints' much bigger than a typical U.S. State.

When USA hasn't won its because teams of mainly professional players from Germany or Japan have been better than USA teams of ex NCAA players who weren't good enough for the pros. In recent years USA teams have been a lot stronger - they are now including many college players who are considered NFL prospects. Tournaments usually take place in June or July. NCAA rules allow current NCAA players to play. For some its a good way of getting extra off season practice/games that is exempt from NCAA restrictions.

P.S. also a great opportunity for players to travel if the tournament is outside USA.

Whereabouts information on athletes?

Out of competition testing?

Athlete must log whereabouts for 365 days a year and indicate a sixty minute time period each day for availability.

Plus be subject to random testing.

It isn't about underestimating the opposition. It is knowing the US isn't sending their best players or teams to these competitions.

How does the US prepare for these competitions compared to other countries? I remember in the days prior to the Dream Team in international basketball. Other countries had teams that played together much longer than the teams the US sent to international competition. This is very important in football. The longer you can line up next to the same players and develop chemistry can help improve the level of play for a team.

Football in the Olympics is dumb and I SERIOUSLY doubt that would ever happen. I mean how many games can a football team play in sixteen days? Not enough to actually have any type of ranking system worth a damn not to mention determine any type of winner.

None of the teams are together long. They are all 'allstar' teams. If you get 2 weekends you're doing well. All you can do is a basic game plan. Teams with best athletes have a huge advantage.

I reckon some of the club teams from these countries would be better than some of the national teams because they play together.

But everyones in the same boat.

In World Cups the format is 2 groups of 4 teams. Play each other once = 3 games. Top 2 in each group go to Semis. Max games = 5.

Usually have squads of 75 to allow players to be rested - often very different starting lineups in the group games.

International tournaments have been around for 30 years and World Cups since the late 90s. Nothing new about the format or playing 5 games over two weeks.
